Help wanted on abstract Art -

I would love to start a discussion and collect ideas about
abstract art. My German-English dictionary says abstrackt and
non-configurational art are the same - but exactly that I
doubt.

Futhermore the role of the human face within abstract art or
the possiblity of the abstraction of a face would be interesting.

I'm writing a paper on Jawlensky's heads and I'most open to all
ideas.

I'll be happy about all clues, literature hints, tips, jokes or
serious contributions.

Thanks.

I think any decent art-history type could endlessly discuss differences
between genres of abstract art.. non-objective is the term I think you are
searching for, I've never heard of 'non-configurational' although this
might just be a translation problem (or my own ignorance possibly).

Of course ALL art is to some degree abstract.

Ick! I used to go to the Norton Simon museum and they ALWAYS had a huge
collection of Jawlensky heads on display. They all looked pretty similar
to me. I don't see how he could have done the same work over and over and
over and over with so little variation. It would have driven me NUTS. It
drove me nuts just to see them again and again.
