what makes me tick? what inspires me? it's just life and
living, which includes my family, my cats, my friends and
all the things we all do... movies, dancing, parties, quiet
talks in pubs (well I don't do so much of that in Utah),
hikes, the comet Hyakutake, all of it. Then there's one
other thing: the simple understanding that I am an artist,
I make things.
>WE ARE SCULPTURE MAJORS BUT MOST OF US ALSO
>DRAW, PAINT, PHOTOGRAPHY AND OTHER MEDIUMS WE ARE INTERESTED IN
>HEARING FROM ANYONE WHO ENDEAVORS TO LIVE IN AN UNCREATIVE WORLD!!
I don't know what you mean by 'uncreative world' The world
doesn't seem lacking in creativity to me. In many ways
it, especially its humans, seem way overcreative, far too
productive for the health of the world. What do you see?

IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE SEND A REPLY. LET US KNOW WHAT MAKES YOU
TICK, WHAT INSPIRES YOU, AND WHAT MAKES YOUR CREATIVE JUICES FLOW.
This is a topic we discuss constantly on our online service.
Before I attempt to answer what breeds creativity in all of us,
I'd like to point out a danger sign. And that is, if you can't
answer this question, chances are you are not creative. I do
believe all of us are creative however, it's just that not all of
us have the tools to express it. Perhaps some of these
inspirations will help those who are struggling with coming up
with creative ideas.
The most evident factor in creativity is a desire for change. When
old methods to new problems will not offer solutions, it is time
to be creative, and come up with a new idea.
Second, being creative is fun! Creativity gives us permission to
be different, unique, and sometimes, a bit silly. Everyone needs a
time to express themselves in one way or another, and I believe
using individuality as inspiration to be creative is wonderful.
I'm not sure, but I think it was either Plato or Freud who claimed
artists paint the surreal (in my opinion VERY creative) as an
escape from reality. Being a fantasy artist, I paint my
"unreal" themes in an effort to create worlds where my images behave
in a way I believe they ought to. In fact, I use several of the
psychological control manipulators in my art that we teach in our
online classes to "suggest" emotions within the viewers that view
art. Could I be using control as inspiration for creativity? Maybe
so, since it goes back to the first factor of my desire for
change. My usual methods of screaming at everyone to do the right
thing seems to go in one ear and out the other. However, viewers
of my art seem to be more willing to "listen" to my "visual words."
Good luck in your creative quest!
