Hi all

Recently varnished my pride a joy
with W&N Artists Matt Varnish
and was not impressed.

It was very thick and pulled hairs
from the brush.

I would rather do lots of thin coats

Can I thin varnish?

Cheers

Niall

Try using aerosol spray cans instead of brushing
it on.

>Can I thin varnish?

Of course. Just don't try to thin an
oil varnish with water, and vice versa...

Try Damar Varnish for oil paintings (dry the painting for at least one
year). Damar Varnish can be removed with turps if the surface requires
future cleaning - also mix with half turps for a retouch varnish.
