Art 4 Art Sake
then it was and finally it has earned its place
Art 4 Reaction Sake
I can speak only for what I have seen around the country touring and
looking at art this year. Many of you know I've been to most major art
fairs, galleries and thousands of open studios and websites. I can also
speak from the place of my studio ~ gallery and what I see as a 'movement
and how it is being created.
My studio ~ Gallery and artists are all well positioned in time, place
and culture - which - often times has as much to do with movements as the
art. Along with this is a collective sensitivity to a philosophy and
message which is reinforced by work, PR, marketing, writings, grants,
exhibitions and political or civic dealings with art. It is time and
consistency with these approaches that will show the movement.

M Art Studio Gallery sees the future we have 2 create
M Art Studio Gallery is about vision and redefining paradigms in the
dawning new millennium. There is a clarity of goodwill transpiring in
the culture and in art. The studio and gallery will highlight this
clarity in a balance of soulful spirit cultural leadership and empowering
connectedness that unites people in the essence of creating a refreshed
societal vision.
M Art Studio Gallery is about making a difference and emerging artists
who identify the otherside and bing it to the world with a passion for
actualizing a positive future. Artists represented by M celebrate truth
and goodness in creating a positive cultural clarity.
When I wrote this a year ago I knew only there was a vision - what to
come is the movement first the vision then the happenning then the movement.
I have spoken in the public several times about this philosophy and what
is in my work. Most often it has been impromptue @ arts events often well
and passionately recieved. = timing
We are now doing
Art 4 Culture Sake -
Oh my god a movement!
Curators in CA think there is no movement but they are existing in blind
arrogance - while we create it right under their noses. See George
Riberas comment in the Andersen Collection Catalogue. "there continues to
be no identifiable movement in Northern California" HA!

Lots o' fifty -cent words in your speech, pal. Are you saying you want to
make up a new set of rules for defining what art is?
There is a clarity of goodwill transpiring in
> the culture and in art.
Really? Where do you live?
The studio and gallery will highlight this

No, no. That was already tried in the EIGHTIES. It never caught on.

What does that mean exactly?

What do you mean by "Cultural clarity"?

There isn't. I see just as much of one kind of art as another. I could say
that the present movement in American art now is abstract figurativism.
That's just as true as if I were to say that there is a new movement back
toward realiism. Personally I think an art movement is determined by what
the galleries are selling. And who everyone is saying is hot.

"international art coup" idea sounds a little corny. Just don't throw any
bombs, okay? That's not art.

Why isn't it art? Just because you say so? What if I say throwing a
bomb IS art? What if I believe the Unabomber to be a very artful
dodger? What if I think the transformation of the architecturally dull
and un-imaginative Federal Building in OK City created a work of
art, and was a performance piece as well?

Tell us Twinkletoes, when you fart is it art? A happening? Does it express
tension and compression? Is it self expression?
Some artists are among the stupidist people I know.

Then I'd say, "You are wrong."

Then I'd believe you are a lunatic.

Then I'd say your thinking is very narrow, and considering
the suffering and death caused by the incident, that your
understanding of art and art analysis is serverly disfunctional.
What's your point? ...never mind, I don't care.
James.
>Some artists are among the stupidist people I know.

Well, first of all, you DON'T know me, so I ass-ume you aren't
addressing me. Secondly, as I read the sentence, you infer
that artists comingle with the stupidest people you know. Certainly
it is obvious to most of us who have been foolish enough to read
your rants more than once that you associate with the stupidest
people--in fact I would have to guess that you are one of the
best known of your exclusive group.

It will define itself in the next several years. Your thinking exhibits
reactionary approach instead of empowering vision - step 1 think now lead

BEEP BEEP BEEP, warning, ... this thread is dangerously close to
being totally incoherent. I'm not sure what the hell we're discussing
at this point, but I'll take a crack at it.
>Yeah. People will kill to win an argument about art.
They will? When did that happen?
>People will kill and die just to be right.
Mostly people will kill and die for political reasons.
Mostly people kill and die in wars fought for influence and power
and resources etc. It might be under the guise of religion and
patriotism, but those are just the motivators to get the
grunts out in the field to kill one another.
>I say all there is to do is to realize we all have a choice:

This is a truely lovely Christian idea, but I'm not sure what
it has to do with anything, ... for that matter, what the heck
are we talking about?
:-)
