I am doing an essay on Salvador Dali for an "Art History and
Appreciation" course. Presently, all the readings I got from the library are
giving me a BIG headache. He is such an enigmatic individual. (To make
matters worse he has to be an artist!)(You may ignore this lame joke.
Sorry, couldn't resist it.)

Does anyone have any idea of what to make of him?
Can anyone suggest a framework from which to analyse Dali's work?
Is there a general trend of development in his creative efforts?
Is Surrealism=Dali?
Any good readings to recommend?

I am eternally grateful to anyone who can give me some CLUE to the
puzzle that is S. Dali.

P.S. no snide remarks about his moustache please. (:^S

Thanx

No. He just started painting one afternoon, decided he didnt like
it..and there ya go.

No...surrealism = 2 + the square root of Magritte, divided by Dali.

Yes. "Lake Wobegon Days" By Keillor.
Thomas Mertons Asian Journals.
"The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" By Adams.
"Sein Language" By Jerry Seinfeld.
