Do you have an objection to the art in this site? Do you not like
realistic? I am a photorealistic wildlife artist and was a little
offended by your comment. If I'm being too sensitive I'm sorry.

Just wondered what you meant.

I simply meant that I think it is bad art. I see very little art that
excites me, art that I would like to own, or even view again. I say this in
sadness, not glee or superiority (although I'm certain to be accused of
that!) I would love to see more good art. But I can't pretend to like
inferior work.

This is my opinion only. I'm a plain-spoken guy and I guess I express
myself crudely. I don't mean to offend.

A magazine editor once said, *we reject manuscripts, not people.* I feel
the same about art. It's certainly nothing personal.

I've seen photorealism that I like a lot. Can your stuff
be seen on the Web?

Best,

Vinny

Gloria,
No offense meant, but you can't expect ONLY good comments... It just
doesn't work that way and is unfair of you to expect.

Ah, I used to have a site before hubby and I got separated. If you've
ever heard of Terry Isaac or Robert Batement, my work is very similar.
I'm still looking for something to help me stand out a little more.

Cheers!

In article <36F2A695...@us.ibm.com>,
Gloria Heim <gh...@us.ibm.com> wrote:

I assume the Russion Art on the URL is what's being referred to here. What I
saw was a great collection of eclecticism -- the only relatedness was that
these are Russian artists. Bad? I think the camer work was atrocious, not
only the lighting but the wrong lens. As far as the painting goes, I'm not
really prepared to say it is 'bad' in anyway. There were some examples that
looked like greeting card art, while others were very interesting as
contemporary art.

But I remember reading during the early days of perastroika [sp] about some
Moscow sidewalks exhibits where young artists were recapitulating 50 years of
modernism, to the best of their ability, after state censorship lifted, and
this could be displayed without being construed as subversive activity. Can
you imagine how it would be growing up, as an artist, under the hegemony of
Social Realism, then suddenly its a wide open field. In this case the
eclecticism is perfectly understanding. Before Stalin the Russians produced
some great, cutting edge art, and I am certain that they will pick up where
they left off -- but in the process of regaining this, there will be a lot of
searching. What I saw on the web site was concrete evidence of this
searching, and as such it was remarkable.
