Hallo
recently I have seen in an art gallery some lovely paintings. some big still
life in classical style (they looked like some renowned flemish subjects)
wich really looked like painted by some skilled artist.
A friend told me that they are not painting, not hand made, but some sort of
print....he said that they are made with computer process, and that they are
treated in some way to become similar to real hand made paintings.
i've read some posts and i become aware of these 'offsets' and 'giclee'
are these products really so similar to real paintings that somebody whose
eye is quite used and familiar to paintings can be deceived? I have looked
carefully at it, and it really gave me the feeling of real painting. there
are real brush strokes and a colour layer....i hope somebody knows more
about these techniques and can show me some ways to distinguish real
paintings from this prints
thanks in advance

thanks for the reply
i 've tried to use the jeweler's loupe, and no dots are visible.
The fact is that also in a serigraphy print i've looked for the dots and
didnt find any.
Some kind of serigraphy called "materic" can simulate the relief of the
brush strokes and the deepness and brightness of oil colors
