Illustration, realism, and a social aesthetic?

Hi all,
I am new to this group and have been looking at the recent threads in
realism and illustration with interest. I have a site at
http://www.sputnik-art.com, which explores these very themes. Basically, I
feel that, as many of you have said, that art must illustrate something; but
in some ways, go further, and think that it should also have what could be
called a "social aesthetic". I am interested in what others think - and of
course, I welcome fedback on my site, so please check it out.
