I am called Andrew and I do the tattooing in Tuscany (Italy). I
Recently have devoted myself to the study of super realistic
illustrations and [fantasy].

I have found some first information on the technique in some
books of Sorayama and I as am me impassioned as that by now the
line has become of my life.
Studying the examples I have understood that he is before
perform the figure in white and black with all his hues and
only in succession, exploiting this work like base, the color
is applied.
Since the color comes applied like in the [watercolors] in very
diaphanous way and for overlap of layers the inferior
[chiaroscuro] becomes fundamental for precision and for
intensity in the 3-D effect.
I want to know if anybody has this experience in commune with
me and I above all want to understand if according to you the
[chiaroscuro] has performed with the pencil ([graphite]) or
with the colored black pencil.
Please if anybody could help me it you do! If possible by
E-MAIL.
infinitely thankful for any counsel or furnished reference.
Preventive Thank.

Andrew

as...@mailbox.icom.it says...

I am not sure what the source of your inspiration is, but you are
surrounded with the finest examples of underpaintings (monochromatic)
using chiaroscuro to define figures and then colored with transparent
layers of oil color. Italy was the home of the technique in the high
Rennaisance period. Carravagio may have been the one who most fully
exploited the style of painting.

The underpainting was usually done in egg tempera and the colors were
applied with oil glazes. The transparency of the oil carrier was one of
the reasons the effect was so complete in its three dimensional illusion.
You will have a difficult time achieving the same depth with acrylics
and will find it impossible with watercolors.
