To the paper question:

I've found this source to be the best for papers of all kinds. I also
haven't found anyone who beats the price.

Eg. Arches 300lb Cold press 22"x30" $5.35

Arches en tout Cas 52 1/2" x 10yds. $54.00

BTW en tout Cas is a really tough watermedia paper by Arches. It's
about 200lb weight. The biggest problem most people have with it is
the fact that it comes in rolls and is very difficult to get to lay
flat.

So here's the place:

Stephen Kinsella INc.
Fine Art Papers
box 32420 Olivette MO 63132

ph: 800-445-8865 for a price list

Yeah, I always have trouble with roll paper, I gave up on it. I don't even
like the art supply shop rolling my paper when I take it home, I always
make them wrap it up flat (and they are very unhappy to do it too!)

BTW, I found some 500lb watercolor paper a while ago, it was the most
stable paper I ever used, I did some special printmaking stuff on it, and
it was as rigid as cardboard even when soaking wet... I mean REALLY
soaking, submerged in a tray of hot water. I did some tests on stability,
since I was printing multiple layers, and the registration was crucial.
Even after 10 or 11 cycles of printing, soaking, and drying, I couldn't
measure any shrinkage or stretching. Registration was perfect, which is
very rare in this process.. Unfortunately, it was about $15 for a rather
small sheet, or I would use it a lot more.. Now, I don't even remember
where I bought it.

I'm checking into an obscure NY art supply shop, a painter friend of mine
from NYC swears they have the most unusual papers, and are pretty cheap. I
sent for a mail-order catalog, I'll post if anything interesting comes in
the mail..
