What is not modern art, what is on second. Art is the guy I worked for
in my first programming job. He was no more or less modern than anyone
else I know.

I didn't see any pics of Longo's paintings on the net but i know he had a
retrospective at the Times Square gallery of hunter college last fall.

modern dress, modern values, etc.
that's why they invented post modern, now the problem is post-post-modern.
Its the old problem described by Thoreau - an Indian tribe has one word for
day. for yesterday they say their word for day and point backwards - for
tomorrow they say their word for day and point forwards - for to day they
say their word for today and point upwards.
So you say the phrase modern art and point in one of three directions of
course you have to invent a word for pointing in each of those directions if
you are using text communication.

Modern Art usually refers to the artwork allowed into museums done
after 1900 until the present. Critics are always trying to think of
new names for the period but are relatively unsuccessful.
Modern Art fundamentalist think its the only valid art done in that
time frame and are hardly aware of anything else that was done.

No, but it is part of colour theory, which is an aspect of the study
that can lead to art. What you see when you close your eyes is the
complementary colours of what you have just been looking at. This is
called something like successive contrast. When we see a colour, the
physiological reaction is that the eye attempts to create a balance by
visualising its complement.

No, at this point it is just an optical phenomenon.
