I was recently sorting through my old belongings and I came across
some drink coasters which featured the brilliant artwork of Australian
artist Harry Grebert. I've done a google search of him but there's no
reference to him. By any chance, does anyone know about this artist
and if he still produces works?

I knew Harry in Melbourne in 1977.
He was a friend of mine and gave me a drawing of the botanic hotel corner of north and eat terraces, Adelaide SA

he was a great guy. Sadly doubt he is alive today. Great art. Very talented. If you can track him down in Melbourne that would be great. I have been in the USA since 1980.

Harry and I were good friends in the early 70 s in Adelaide, including the period he was doing the Botanic Hotel and nearby East end markets. He used to set up to do his ink line drawings in street parking places and tell angry potential parkers he'd paid the meter and wasn't moving. I have a drawing of the main Adelaide bridge over the River Torrens he gave me as a wedding present.
In the late 80 s I came across him living in Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills. He'd had a big heart operation. He would be about 85 now. Hang on to your coasters. Roger Lamey

I came across Harry sketching the Supreme Court ( and similar buildings) in Melbourne in the mid 70's. We had him over for drinks I recall and ended up buying several of his works.

I met Harry When I was serving my Articles of Clerkship in or about 1877 and he was seated at the Entrance of Owen Dixon Chambers and sketching the Supreme Court building facade on the opposite side of Williams Street. I purchased one of the limited number of 'prints' and stayed in touch with him until the mid eighties. At this stge he had a stall on StKilda Esplanade Market. He was always fun to be with, enjoyed a glass of wine and seemed happy with his situation. I still have the Supreme Court Print and several of his place mat and coaster series featuring Australian wineries. I have tried to trace him but unfortuneately I think he may have gone to God. Good Luck Harry wherever you are!

My husband and I reside in Southwest Florida and came across a complete set of diner place mats featuring Scenes of Old Melbourne and the artist is Harry Grebert. They are in our possession and would like to know a little more about the artist. Does he have any family? Thank you.. Beth
