POLL: How Useful Is This? (repost)

This is one of those page-a-day calendars, about 7" by 5 1/2", but the
painting area on each page is only 4" by 3". It comes with a brush and
five colors: black, green, red, yellow and blue. It's called a "Lesson
a Day" calendar and there is text on each page, for example:
Mon-Jan 2 is a pic called "House in the Woods," and above it says, "One
of the first steps in becoming a successful artist is to study the
styles and techniques of artists around the world and throughout
history. Fauvism was a European art movement in the first part of the
20th Century in which a wild effect was created by using only pure
colors." And underneath is, "Tip: Let your imagination take over. Use
colors right out of the tray with little or no mixing and ignore
reality."
The next day has a still life; a vase and some fruit with, "Paul
Cezanne structured his still-life paintings so that every brush stroke
was like a building block placed within the pictorial architechture.
This is evident in his painting "Fruit Bowl, Glass and Apples."
Underneath the pic it says, "Tip: Unify the painting by repeating the
same colors in all the different objects."
It goes on like that for a year. Yes, I bought it for myself. I figure
it will get me to do *some* painting every day, and if there is any
useful advice, well, that's a plus. What do you think? Is this useful
or not? I'm not looking for validation, I just want to hear your
opinions.

As for the calendar, sounds like a great gift
item for those of us who would like to introduce
art as a hobby to our non-artist friends, who
might even learn something from the experience
of reading the various texts. Thanks for telling
all about this.

It`s impractical from the fact that alot of people (even artists) - like to
have a day off!
It might make even the average robosapien sick of painting.
