I recall seeing an episode of the documentary series "The World at War"
which showed a Police Box on a London street during an air raid.

During several British films, the most notable being 'The First of the
Few' with Leslie Howard (about the inventor of the Spitfire fighter)
during the introductory sequence. I seem to remember an 'Ealing Comedy'
with Sid James where the crooks drive past one at one point. Then there
ar all the 1950's Police films, 'The Blue Lamp' etc. I will keep a look
out and post any more I remember. If anyone else can add or confirm I
too would be most interested!

one in a Will Hay film, can't remember which one.

I believe that the first Tardis was the policebox previously used on Dixon
of Dock Green

I think that was the programme. As a useless piece of trivia, the Police Box in
D.O.D.G. was the same police box used by William Hartnell / Patrick Troughton.
(Until it fell to pieces.)

I remember watching a 50s (I think) film, where there is a police
box in the distance, a person is run over by a car and when the
camera looks up, back down the street, the police box has gone!

Australia's ABC plays a couple of old English movies just about
every night; I've seen a few police boxes in there. Generally just
as part of background scenery, not actually anything to do with
the storyline. I always get a kick out of it, though... :-)

There was a police serial called Dixon of Dock Green, in which a police box
played a prominent role.... suppoosedlyt the prop in question has also appeared
in Doctor Who...............
Speaking of overlapping props....
Does anyone remember The Keeper's chair in Keeper of Traken, I could swear I
saw the same design of chair in a colour episode of the Avengers a while ago...
It was a colour episode with Emma Peel in it.....

ISTR that the Keeper's chair was actually Tim's chair from The
Goodies...

You can find police boxes in the old Ealing comedies. I am thinking specifically about "The Lavendar Hill Mob" with Alec Guinnes among others. Great film any
way.
Also, just this afternoon a segment of Beyond 2000 featured one of the writers
lost in the country and coming upon a police box while looking for a telephone.
He says something to the effect of "looks like I've found communications AND
transportation..." He opens the door while an Oh So Familiar Theme Song (tm)
plays in the background, enters and it demats. :)
