You're just posting all the best RH posts from rec.arts.drwho and hoping no
one will notice, aren't you? Perhaps hoping the new people will go, ooh,
this Ron Hines is right witty, not to say spontaneous! We must give him lots
of Adrics. Less painful than it sounds, that.
Whereas I can come up with a haiku off top of me ed:
Ron Hines is clever
Reposting stuff gets laughs twice
Wish I'd thought of that.

I tire of reading haiku all the time;
What's wrong with writing posts that scan and rhyme?
And while we're here I'd also like to see
Some verse that has more lines in it than three.
So since I've nothing else to do tonight
On 'Warriors of the Deep' I'll try to write.
Three races, then, are laid before our gaze -
Beings that walked the Earth in ancient days.
Haughty Silurians (though some think that fake
And Eocenes the name that they should take);
Sea Devils, who before the Humans' day
Held all the mighty ocean 'neath their sway;
One kindred more is present, such its fame
That all will groan to hear the MYRKA's name.
But surely 'gainst this monster none can fight?
Alas, it's killed by ultraviolet light.
Through corridors the bold Sea Devils go,
The pink and squashy humans lay they low.
Behold the Doctor calling for a pact:
His talk is peace, but on it none will act.
Some humans then the Doctor's trust betray;
He thinks there should have been another way.

Ah, but you'll always be cuter. ;)
Coincidentally, I'm watching Warriors of the Deep now.
The model work is quite good, but as for the interiors of the Sea Base -
it's too white! Does the Sea Base have a squadron of cleaners???

I've been a bit quiet of late, and I wanted to publicise myself somewhat to
try and work up some interest in the ADRICS (hence, the sig). I've labelled
some as reposts, so there! ; P
Besides, RADW was very quiet when I started posting, and most people here
haven't seen my stuff...

Too much lighting -- the curse of 80s Who. How many stories have had their
direction, scripts or performances criticised just 'cos no-one had the guts
to tell the lighting crew to knock it off.
Cast the Sea Base in shadows, and it might work. The Myrka, on the other
hand... No, nothing could make that work. ; )

Only a thought, and I've not tried this myself (yet) but I wonder how
WotD et al would look if viewed in B&W with the brightness turned
down?

Of course it's allowed. Just remember to email the nomination to the sig
below.
Given that it's a reprint, I'm not sure it qualifies for the radwm
quotefile, but you're more than welcome to nominate it anyway -- it's
certainly funny!

Something to amuse the radwm nation?
If you think that this is so,
send it to the address below!)
You're really close to the line here, Pete. Back off.
There's nothing in the charter about not posting things again. Besides
which, a great deal of the readership of RADWM has not bothered to
read RADW for quite some time, myself included.

Um, I don't think Pete was being entirely serious. I base this on the fact that
I *have* been reading RADW, and have *never* noticed Pete be entirely serious.
He's very rarely a little bit serious. In fact, Mr Hines and Mr Galey are very
close to being a comedy double act.

However, to an 'outsider' such as myself, who has NOT been reading
RADW, this sort of comment can be considered a flame. If I had not
reacted to such a post, certainly someone else might have, and begun a
whole new round of misunderstandings.
Why should one set of people be 'allowed' to post such comments, even
in 'jest' and others not? Why not let everyone do so, under the claim
that it's 'all in good fun'? If someone came to us as moderators
appealing a warning for a flame, and pointed to this post and said,
"But you let them do it all the time," don't you think that might not
go down well? Do you understand what I'm getting at here?
Moderate yourselves a bit, guys.
> However, to an 'outsider' such as myself, who has NOT been reading
> RADW, this sort of comment can be considered a flame.
I find it ironic that a moderator should choose to both initiate and
continue this debate on the mod group rather than via private email or
modish, where it belongs. If you genuinely believed that "this sort of
comment can be considered a flame", you should have had the courage of your
convinctions and issued me with a formal warning in the appropriate way.
Casting judgements on my behaviour and issuing me with commands *in an
informal context* is a misuse of your position as moderator. I wouldn't sit
back accept it from a non-mod, so I certainly won't sit back and accept it
from you.
If you wish to respond to this, please do so via modish, which, the
moderators never tire of telling people, is the designated place for such
discussions. I shan't respond again on the newsgroup, just as I didn't
respond on the newsgroup to your initial complaint.
Done.
