In the televised history of Doctor Who there have been 160 stories
(including Shada) from An Unearthly Child (#1) right through to the
1996 TVM The Enemy Within (#160).

Welcome to "the Randomizer" at Doctor Who's Tragical History Tour.
Whereas the Cloister Room proceeds sequentially through the history of
the program and the Panopticon packages images in different themed
formats, the Randomizer is just what it sounds like. Each week (usually
on Monday--but during May on Tuesdays) the THT brain-wizards will let
the computer randomly pick a Doctor Who story to showcase, whether it's
a classic like The Caves of Androzani or a stinker like The Horns of
Nimon.

Here's how it works: For the math purists out there the formula used
to pick the story at random is as follows: X=INT((160 x RND) + 1)
Where X is the story number of the result, RND is the random decimal
number generated between 0 and 1, and INT is the integer number of the
result. Endlessly fascinating isn't it? One note used for the
numbering of stories, we are using the broadcast order for the stories,
and not the production order, which would have affected stories from
the Pertwee era onwards.

In May, with the 1st and the 15th occurring on Mondays, the Randomizer
for this month only moves its presentation schedule to Tuesdays. This
week the Randomizer has landed at the second of the two Pertwee Peladon
stories, Season 11's The Monster of Peladon. Try as I might, I
remember next to nothing of this story. Then again that was the case
with much of the 11th Season. Thoroughly unmemorable.

for this month only moves its presentation schedule to Tuesdays. This

week the Randomizer has not only stayed within the Pertwee era but
stayed in the forgettable 11th Season with the story Invasion of the
Dinosaurs. As Tom Baker said in Logopolis, the Randomizer and I are
getting rather better at these short hops. It's somewhat ironic given
the big-budget state-of-the-art Disney treatment now out at theatres
concerning dinosaurs that we should be stopping at Doctor Who's only
foray into this area, with effects that, to be charitable, were more
like state-of-the-puppet. Oh well. Remember that next week we move
back to Mondays for the Randomizer.
