We were very unimpressed with the new light show "Light Fantastic" (at
least thats what I have heard it called.) IMHO it detracted from the
Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks and made Disneyland look like a Used car
dealership using those SkyTracker lights.

Although it is amazing that the lights could be seen like 40 miles away
(tho we were right under them) we hope they were only for the 40th and
not an everyday event.

Nah - your being too harsh. My group loved the lights and thought it
enhanced the displays. I thought it was neat to have the lights during
the fireworks as well as you get to see the trails of smoke you normally
dont get to see with fireworks. Plus we were amused that if you stood
in the Disney Circle - the lights when they first start up practically
created a pentagram in the air. :) This gave us a chuckle. I hope
Disney plans on keeping them - and learns to use them more in different
more colorfull ways. They are a great way of getting your attention
that 'something is happening', and if they play with that - and do
faster light patterns, it can become even more eye-catching.

Brian, why did I figure you would bsay sometihng about the lights
taking away from the pyro? Hehe, I was thinking the same thing at first,
but then I saw what those lights can do, and was realy impressed. Big
moving lights that change colors and stuff. I realy likes it. Although,
the northern lights pattern when the sky is full did make the pyro look
smaller, I realy enjoyed the "spots lights" patterns those things can do.
But hey, this is something new. I think they'll see what people
say and make adjustments as nessesary.

I do think they are fantastic to be able to do, but it still washes out
the color of the fireworks, and makes the sky TOO light by lighting all
the smoke up. I think they would be better suited to do a light show
separate from the fireworks or even have fireworks as a finale to to the
light show, but not at the same time.

And the view from the BRB sucks now in a big way, too bad, so sad :~(

Hey Mike here's a tech question for you... I saw the use of the Sky
Lighting on the 17th, Excellent programming I must say. Can you tell me what
type of units DL is using. I caught a glimpse of the five near Pirites, they
appeared to be white in color. I work for Technical Services at Sea World of
Cal. and we have three 7K Xenotechs, DLs seemed to be faster and steady at the
end of the movment?? They also looked to be at least 10K?? We are using DMX
for control, which could be the cause for some jerkyness at the end of sweeps?
Well If you or anyone knows the technical side to this lighting please post..

25 Units is very damn impresive!!!

We're using 21- 7k Synchrolights that can be upgraded to 10k very easily.
Which is inthe plan within the next year or so. And the controller is a
compulite console that sends DMX through a fiber optic network to the
rooftops then the signal is converted from optical back to the good ol'
dmx signal all moving instruments love to see.

The fixtures have a gel scroller that holds either 7 or 8 gels per string,
and the fixtures inglude a mechanical douser and sopt to flood adjustable
reflector.

In regarsds to the jerkiness of the xeontechs I really don't know what
would be causing that problem, could be the electronics in the individual
fixtures them selves- or just a xenotech thing. I couldn't tell you.
sorry.

I hope that answers some of your questions! Feel free to drop me aline if
you you do happen to come across any other questions.
