Okay, since Laura doesn't seem to be here, I'll fill in some
details...

New faces!

RADP 14's meet and greet went over well. Biggest news, is
Bashful (and Mr. Bashful, sorry, I'm more than terrible with names)
was there! There weren't any planters big enough for them to
hide behind. She handed out small movie clapboard keychains,
commemorating he first RADP meet. I would suggest, we change
her moniker to Bashless. ;-)

I also met a lurker! (And again, that name thing. Post something, so
I can associate your name with your image, dammit! :-))

Steve Russo was there too, but left unexpectedly to join his wife
in getting his room...

That was the first three minutes of the Big Meet. Then Jack came by,
and everything went to hell. ;-)

Meerkat was a new face, too!

Oh, the Queen (and consort ;-)) of Adventureland also graced us with
an appearance...

The Mighty Paragon was there. Interesting talking with her, every
once in a while, I'd say something and she'd think I mentioned a brand
name of a weapons manufacturer. lol. Maybe that's why she's so
fearful. HAhahaha... (We need to go have some alcoholic drinks one
night Paragon, maybe not this trip, but sometime...) I got to see her
silver pass. She wouldn't let me touch it, though.

Nice to see old faces (there's a double entendre). Jack, Julie, Big
Brian, and all the others.

Also went to the Voices of Liberty meet, where I foolishly sat on the
floor under the dome, and lost all feeling and control of my right
foot. But the VoL were amazingly good, as always. They did the
dradle song, and all I could think of was that South Park episode...

Then up to American Adventure, where no matter how many times I see
it, I still enjoy it. A very moving show. We occupied the second and
third rows. (The front row was roped off.)

Anyway, here's a group pic from the general meet, minus a couple of
photographers. (Like me.) This is *not* the official group photo...

Keane, I think you have now become the designated RADP Meet
Reporter. :-) Thanks for the post and for the photo...sounds like you
all are having a great time. Save a little fun for me - we arrive
Monday night and will see many of you at mini golf that night, I hope!

I'm going to take a wild guess that the Mighty Paragon is 4th from
right--that woman looks ready to kick a** and take names!

Hey! I was there for 45 minutes before SWMBO called and I slinked off. I did
get to meet a lot of people and it was a distinct pleasure (mostly anyway).

Of course ;-) But thanks, Jack, for introducing me around. It's amazing how
you remember all the names and faces but I guess you've been doing this for
45 years ;-)

And there's an interesting story on how I met Bashful before the meet and

Hope to see everyone later in the week but I don't think we're braving the

Sorry, didn't mean to imply you left in the first three minutes.

As a matter of fact, I think Steve was the first person I
semi-recognized. (Hard to tell from some 2"x2" picture on the back of
some book that you only read in the bathroom...) ;-)

He was the one who introduced me to Kitty, Mr. Kitty and
Driselaine(?).

Psychic, psychotic...psychic, psychotic... Okay, maybe it's not a
typo...

>Hope to see everyone later in the week but I don't think we're braving the
>MK today!

I get to do an attraction today I've only done once before. It's
called the MCO Cell Lot...

MK, until Wishes last night, was a zoo. A cold, 48 degree zoo. And I
heard my first "I've had enough!" from parent to child, last night.
Welcome to the most Magical Place On Earth!

Let me also voice my displeasure on not firing those huge shells
during the finale of Wishes. The shells that are larger than the
Castle. The only thing they did was do some really cool castle
lighting tricks, but the sky was dark. :-(

But it's also the first time I've seen Wishes where the smoke from the
fireworks went down Main Street, so maybe it was a fallout problem.
Maybe that's why it was so cold, too.

so....take the stupid picture already! ....and it's not a sweater, it's a

If I owned a Glock, I would brag about it. (And no, for all of you
with your minds in the gutter, I was *not* talking about a word that
rhymes with Glock... If you can't figure out what I'm sayin', go ask

LOL, sometimes it seems like it, Steve. Actually, we've been doing these
meets for 14 years now (thus the RADP XIV designation) so I have the
distinct advantage of knowing many of the people who are now former RADP
posters but still keep coming back to the December meet every year.
After all that time, one tends to remember people. LOL!

I remember a couple of years ago someone suggested having mini-meet times every
day at every park. Such as, show up at the Castle at 11am and wear an RADP tag
or other identifier. Show up at TOT every day at 11am, same routine. That way
you could be spontaneous and meet a few members. If no one showed up that day,
move on to another attraction.

That way you could have a chance to meet someone and shoot the breeze, maybe
grab lunch or just wait around 15 minutes and move on. I've been to a couple of
large meets and they were fun, but I've also stumbled across folks with an RADP
badge and talked for an hour.

Hi Dreslaine! Yay - you posted! I'm so far behind... all this chatter
I missed last week - but I saw your post and just had to say "hi"! I'm
so glad you decided to come out of the closet! You know that it's all
over now, right? You're officially part of the group, and have no
choice but to stick around and make at least occasional posts. If I can
do it, so can you.

(Really, I would hate to give it up, but I should give you my TDC title,
since it seems I have completely and totally ruined my bashful
reputation this past week. Twelve years of lurking - you beat my record
by a decade!) Seriously, it was wonderful to meet you, and I'm so glad
you decided to speak up! Welcome to the asylum!

Yes, quite bizarre! There I was sitting on a bench, pretending to be

I'm so glad we had a chance to really visit for awhile. Honestly, you
and Rocky did SO well - had I not known you were the bashful type I
would not have suspected that it was a stretch for you to come out among
so many people you didn't know and visit like you did. You have both
come a long way - good for you!!!

I have a picture of Rocky taking a picture of the whole group. People
kept handing him cameras, and he kept taking photos! :-) He was a
really good sport about it.

How was your lunch at Sanaa? I hope it was not another
disappointment!

I'm so glad we got to chat, too! Yes, Rocky was great about taking
photos. I think he rather enjoyed it because it meant he wasn't *in*
the photo, LOL. However, it sounds like you took care of that. (I'd
love to see that one!) (People seem to think he looks like a

Sanaa was great - most definitely not a disappointment. In fact, our
server was outstanding - she earned the biggest tip we gave during our
trip. I am very happy that at least one restaurant can handle a vegan
without special prior arrangements. (AllEars vegan updates will
definitely be in the works. Thank goodness for 'Ohana and Sanaa - it
won't all be bad.)

I plan to put up a photo album on Facebook, but in the meantime I have
the photo in my day 6 blog - it's about 1/4 of the way down:
http://land.allears.net/blogs/lauragilbreath/2009/12/holidays_at_wdw_day_6_1.html

I intentionally took the picture when he had his head behind the camera
so you can't really see his face - figured that would help him keep some
anonymity! :-)

Thanks Laura! I'm really enjoying your blog... though it feels a bit
strange to be "in" it, LOL.

This is terrible, but I didn't make a note of our server's name at
Sanaa! Every trip, I try to remind myself to pay attention to CM's
names, and every trip I find myself forgetting or not noticing most of
them. She really went out of her way to explain things, make
suggestions, etc. She worked with us so that Rocky and I could share -
making sure I knew exactly which items were vegan, and which ones
weren't. She split up a bread order for us, so that my vegan bread
wouldn't be "contaminated" by Rocky's non-vegan bread, LOL.

(Honestly, I think I put so much effort into trying to remember all the
RADPers I met that maybe I didn't have any brain cells left for CM's
this time!)
