Good site for DL dining reviews?....

I've been checking out All Ears and there are some current reviews for DL
dining but there aren't many or some are over a year old. Anyone recommend
a good site for reviews for DL restaurants?

Disney sit down dinner - probably a character meal. Which one is best?
Are there any restaurants that I should steer clear of? What one is a "must
do" for you on your visit?
Since Disneyland isn't as "all immersing" as Disney World, we'll probably do
quite a bit of off site dining. Like Cheesecake Factory (maybe I'll run
into Penny, Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard!!), PF Changs, Mimi's Caf�.

don't do the buffet but order from the menu and it's fine.
In the parks, at DL, Redd Rocket has pretty decent salads and stuff.
All I ever want at DCA is a corn dog!

We always make sure we eat lunch at Whitewater Snacks in the Grand
Californian at least once every trip. The sandwiches are better there than
anywhere within DCA itself. Huge portions. One sandwich and fries will
feed two people easily. I've never been there when it's crowded and when
the temperature outside is HOT, it's nice and air-conditioned. You can sit
down, relax, eat leisurely without some vulture waiting for your table.
It's easy to get refills on your sodas, too.

Even better, when it *isn't* hot, you can sit on the patio and listen
to the Miner '49ers, who play only about 30 feet away.

Thanks Patty. We'll be doing some onsite, some offsite. I just feel like a
complete fish out of water -- we're very familiar with WDW but no experience
with DL!

Unfortunately the Rate and Review for the Disneyland portion of AllEars
has never taken off like it has on the WDW side. And I'm guilty of not
reviewing most of the restaurants where I eat - though I usually review
them in my blog! :-)
The only character meal I've done is Chip and Dale's breakfast at the
Storyteller's Cafe. I'm told it's a much more relaxed and laid-back
experience than character dining at WDW. The food is quite good, though
not cheap - but if you go for a late breakfast you won't need lunch!
Goofy's Kitchen is also highly-rated, and I think there are a lot more
characters there than at Storyteller's. They serve either brunch or
dinner. Now that I look at what you wrote, if you're talking character
meal for dinner then your only choices are Goofy's Kitchen or Ariel's
Grotto (which is all princesses, all the time) - the other character
meals are breakfast only.
A lot of people really love Blue Bayou, but I'm not a fan. The food is
very expensive and I don't think it's worth the price. But if you MUST
do it, then go for lunch, and request the FIRST seating (11:30) - you'll
probably get a waterside table if you do that (but ask when you check in
at the podium).
My favorite restaurants, in no particular order:
Disneyland:
Table Service:
Cafe Orleans (pomme frites and french onion soup!)
Carnation Cafe (I prefer breakfast to lunch/dinner)
Counter Service:
River Belle Terrace (Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast!)
Plaza Inn (very good fried chicken)
Redd Rockett's (really nice fresh and huge salads, and good pizza)
Rancho del Zocalo (decent Mexican food, and large serving sizes)
Tomorrowland Terrace (breakfast there is the bargain of the park, but
the lunch/dinner menu is only so-so)
Bengal BBQ (the skewers are really good, but expensive for what you get)
Oh, I should mention the Corn Dog Wagon at the end of Main Street - I
can't eat those, but people rave about how good they are.
DCA:
Table Service:
Wine Country Trattoria (my favorite table service in either park)
Counter Service:
Pacific Wharf Cafe (soups and salads in sourdough bread bowls. Yum)
Cocina Cucamonga (decent Mexican food, and large serving sizes)
Taste Pilot's Grill (probably the best burgers between the two parks)
Downtown Disney:
Table Service:
La Brea Bakery Cafe (really nice sandwiches)
Catal
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
Counter Service:
Tortilla Jo's Taqueria (recently remodeled, and I enjoyed the new menu)
Ralph Brennan's Creole Cafe (Po'Boys, Beignets, Gumbo, red beans and rice)
Hotels:
Napa Rose - GREAT food but also very expensive. It's a once-or-twice a
year splurge for us.
Storyteller's Cafe - Food's good, but pricey, and it's always noisy.
Whitewater Snacks - it's a snack bar, and I've found the service to
be slow for hot foods.
Steakhouse 55 - I've had very good meals here for breakfast and dinner -
but it's a steakhouse, so not a lot of variety.
PCH Grill - They have a nice menu selection and it tends to not be very
busy.
I can't say I've ever had a really horrible meal there, or a place I
absolutely would not go back to, but here's the ones I don't really
recommend for whatever reason.
Disneyland:
Village Haus - run-of-the-mill pizza and burgers
Hungry Bear - run-of-the-mill burgers, but it's a very nice place to eat
if you get a table right along the Rivers of America!
French Market - everything I've had here has just tasted a little odd to
me and hasn't appealed. It also always seem to have a very slow
moving line.
Celebration BBQ - Food is good, but waaaaay too expensive since it's a
"dining experience" - but not a character meal.
DCA:
Pizza Oom Mow Mow - very average pizza
Downtown Disney:
Naples - expensive, and so-so food
My "Must-dos"...
At Disneyland, breakfast at River Belle, lunch at Cafe Orleans, and
dinner at Redd Rockett's or Zocalo.
At DCA would be the Trattoria or Pacific Wharf Cafe.
At the hotels, breakfast at Storyteller's, and then dinner at Napa Rose.
In Downtown Disney:
Breakfast at either Catal or La Brea, lunch at Ralph Brennan's Jazz
Kitchen or the Taqueria, and dinner at Catal or Jazz Kitchen.
And now I'm *starving*... :-)

I operate on the belief that everyone who visits DL absolutely *must*
eat at the Blue Bayou at least once!
