Disney made it official yesterday,
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
will be the fourth movie. Gone is Verbinski, and it looks
like the only one signed for the film so far is Depp...

Disney also announced a two tier (Silver and Gold) D23
memberships. Only problem is, they never said what a
Silver or Gold membership got you, outside of the re-up
premiums. (The calendar might get me back as a member,
regardless...)

I love replying to myself...

The Gold membership ($74.99) comes with a subscription to D23,
the Silver ($34.99) does not. I'm not sure if that's the only
difference...

I thought I read a year or so ago, that they had ALL agreed to
do a 4th depending on the script and that Depp was involved
in the development. If ALL the characters (including Will who
they have to find a way to get him back) then I go see it for
sure. Otherwise.... We will have to see. I would love to see
Peter Jackson take this on but I don't see them filming this
in New Zealand!

Don't know. IMDB is dearth of information. The only actor signed
on officially is Depp.

Rob Marshall is directing. Personally, I hope Jackson is working
on the Blu-Ray Extended Editions of LOTR to coincide with the
upcoming Hobbit project...

Actually, Dick Cook announced this (including Johnny Depp's involvement)
at the D23 Expo in September.

YIPEE!! I figured they'd have to do a 4th with the way they left 3 hanging
with the eternal youth fountain. Can't wait -- hope it brings the WHOLE
cast back together again.

I believe they have also signed the actor who plays Barbarossa (can't
think of his name at the moment.) The story partially takes place in
New Orleans and is about their quest for the Fountain of Youth.....
or so the current scuttlebutt goes.
By the way, the Fountain of Youth was supposed to be somewhere in
Florida. I would love to see the movie end with the shot of a
fountain only to have the camera pan back and show that it is located
outside the entrance to a certain theme park attraction called
"Pirates of the Carribbean". How COOL would that be !

But it's not official until Disney *announces* it's official. ;-)

Didn't the ending of Blazing Saddles teach you anything?

(And Aviv wants this to be the start of another trilogy.
If they do that, it'd be at the end of Ep6.)

Hawai'i's governor confirmed that it will be shot in the islands. Maui
and Kauai, IIRC.
