OT: Thinking of Disneyland...

I know crowds will probably be crazy but how is weather? Stifling hot like
Florida? Humid?
Since it's so expensive to fly inside Canada, I may have to venture over the
border!

Humid? No! So it won't be stifling like Florida.
But obviously, Southern California can get toasty. I've been
there when it's been in the '0s in January. So 100s aren't
unusual in the summer. But odds are you'd hit 80s during the
day and high 60s/low 70s at night.

DLand crowds are not that bad in the summer if you know when to come. The
trick is to come when as many AP holders as possible are blocked out.
Ironically, many passholders will say "It's blocked out on the days you
wouldn't want to be there anyway because of the crowds", but often the
crowds are manageable exactly *because* the passholders aren't there.
As for weather - in Orlando, watching weather patterns, it seems that the
high in the summer is 93, 94, or 95 EVERY SINGLE DAY. Not 92, not 96. In
Anaheim (where I sit typing at this very moment), you may get hotter than 95
for about six or seven days every summer, but more often it's in the
mid-to-high 80s, or maybe 91 or 92. But during the summer, it's NO rain and
low humidity. It's not nearly as unbearable as the summer humidity in
Florida.
Summers at DLand are actually a nice time to go. So nice that I never go - I
just wait for my next trip to Orlando.
Keep in mind, though, that DCA figures to be crowded next summer - the new
World Of Color show is going to be opening, and it's said to be "the next
big thing". Combine that with limited viewing areas, and it's going to be a
mess.
Still, there are also lots of other things to do locally. There's even a
P.F. Chang's within walking distance of DLand now, as well as a Ruth's
Chris.

If you go to the Disneyland site and search for information on annual
passes, I'm sure it's there somewhere. You can probably also find it on
mouseplanet.com or similar sites - it's the sort of thing that a search can
probably turn up in any number of places.
There are three or four tiers of passes - most are in the lower two, so if
you find dates when only the upper two are admitted, things should be all
right for you.

I will NOT go to WDW in the summer, but I'm up at Disneyland in the
summer several times a year. Yes, you can get hot days in the summer
when it's in the high 90s (even over 100 on rare occasions), but it's
rarely humid when it's that hot - and nothing like WDW hot/humid.
Crowds are usually manageable - the best strategy is to be there WHEN
the park opens because you can do a lot in the first couple of hours
while most of the locals are still driving to the park.

Oh, if you go early you avoid the locals. That explains why I don't go
to DL between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Later in the day it is
entirely too crowded for us.

I asked Ross to drive down Katella and then down Harbor Blvd to see
what's out there. All the majors are around, hotels, restaurants, etc.
But the parks themselves are just not a packed with dining experiences
like the parks in FL. But you won't starve and you can find places to
sit and eat within walking distance. Like Mimi's Cafe.

I was in San Antonio one year for a conference, and it was 105 degF.
But it was a dry heat.
I was in Death Valley one day when it was 108. But it was a dry heat.

I can handle heat, just not humidity. That kills me every time -- usually
migraine inducing.
