In which we go to Bluezoo and Lisa doesn't have a barrel aged manhattan....
Another morning in paradise... We really wanted to go and sit in a park
today. DHS used to be our go to choice for that BUT since they built
that blasted stage in front of the BAH, it's is so LOUD. The beautiful
showtunes music that we use to listen to is buried under the noise of
amped up guitars and drum machines. No, I don't like it.. So we
thought well, MK, has some quiet spots and so does AK. MK bus came
first and won the bus roulette!
My RFID pass continues to be cranky.. Got accused of using a different
finger; I held my tongue and finally the fixer came and let me in. This
will get very very old.. The train was in the station so we trotted up
the stairs and in to a nice row while everyone else was in a gate at the
other end of the platform going very slowly... hummm.. Rode around
to Fantasy Land and got off. I really like the way the station is
integrated into the whole there. It's a pretty cool area and I think
Phoenix will like the water blaster spot too. Went into BIg Top
Souviners for a pair of WDW sun glasses; Now I have three pair of
prescription sun glasses with me but I tend to really like WDW
sunglasses here, they wrap around more and cut down on the glare. I
also have a pair of them somewhere here but they seem to be playing hide
and seek with me.
Nothing at the MK seemed to be too packed to me. We got on Haunted
Mansion with a 10 minute wait! It looked like BTMRR wasn't jammed
either. Next up, Hall of Naps and I believe Andy enjoyed a short doze.
I don't remember that large carved out proscenium before; I remember
sitting much closer to the presidents. But it was a nice presentation
and seemed fresh to me. At the end, people collected themselves and
exited to their right. Not much talking. It was getting to be lunch
time and we were decided to Ice Cream Lunch (ala Russo's Ice Cream RULE)
but maybe a hot dog too... Well, we got moving towards the hub and the
LOUD parade was there, so we hustled across and went to Cosmic Rays
instead. Andy told me what he wanted and I stood in line and he
snagged a table across from the Indy Racers.. Inside seating was
nonexistent. This place was BUSY... I have to say the food was pretty
good! Surprise!!! I had chicken nuggets and they were nicely spiced
and crispy... Added some shredded lettuce and a couple tomatoes and I
was a happy camper. To settle our tummies we took a turn on TTA
(which had a LINE!) and then ice cream, no sharing Plaza Sundaes....
We took them down to the seating area next to the water and enjoyed our
ice cream and the flies.... Not much you can do about them....
And we were OUT! Just missed the bus but within 10 minutes another bus
arrived and we were on the way home. Just piddled around here, a
enjoyed the thunderstorm that quickly moved thru and watched the animals
too.
We decided to drive ourselves to Bluezoo tonight. Just tired of dealing
with buses and boated etc. A couple drinks over 3-4 hours isn't an
issue. And Bluezoo validates valet parking too. Very nice, since
it had started sprinkling again... So tonight instead of a Barrel Aged
Manhattan I had a gin martini. Nicely icy and a film of lemon on the top
too. Andy got a gin and tonic with Plymouth 40% alcohol gin. I
think the martini was not as strongly flavored as I like and I missed
the Barrel Aged Manhattan until next time.....
Dinner was terrific. I had a fish called triple tail. Never heard
of it so Google to the rescue.. I was very very pleased with it. Mild
white fish with a meaty flavor. Andy will cover the rest of the food
porn.... But I think we were all pretty happy with dinner. Chad the
GM was by several times to check on us, and share some news....
We finally left and we were in the villa bout 10p. Amazing. We got
there at 6p and just enjoyed being with Nick and Nora and dinner for 4
hours...
Happy Mother's Day to all..... Only hugs and appropriate kisses.....

cast and kinda humid today.

You only need to specify the type of booze used in the martini if it's
*not* gin. And so you can imagine how I feel when I go to a restaurant
(like we did last night) and look at their bar list to see a dozen vodka
drinks under the heading "martini" and not a single one with gin! :-)

My first thought was "Yuck" but then I thought about it and...?

party and one of the snacks was chocolate covered bacon strips ...the
thick-cut bacon strips, cut in half and fried real crisp and then dipped
in melted chocolate about halfway. I can't imagine, but they said it
was yummy.

each item. I think a traditional bacon cheeseburger, followed by a
chocolate covered KK donut for dessert would be much better.

DD and a friend of hers on a one-day steam train excursion from B'ham to
Chattanooga. We had to leave at 4:00am and wouldn't get back until
after midnight. At the station, they were selling KK donuts for the
ride - buy a dozen, get a 2nd one for $1, so we did. Anyhow, after
almost 20 hours of train riding, as I polished off the last donut, my
wife and the kids began accounting for our donut consumption and it was
determined that I had eaten an entire dozen. I've only ever done that
one other time - about ten years ago, I rewarded myself for losing about
70lbs and getting down to 199lbs by eating an entire dozen KK's. And
I've not seen anything under 200lbs since that day. :-)
