The Last TRurrah - Planning

Joe and I decided to splurge and take something off our bucket list - a
stay in the Boardwalk Inn garden suites.
Many years ago, before we started dating, when I still lived in
Louisiana, we walked past them and I exclaimed how cute they were with
their little white picket fences and garden gates. Joe told me the area
was made to look like Cape May, NJ and told me about his family going
there when he was growing up, and then how staying at one of these
suites was way up on his wish list.
Now with a FL resident rate we've got three nights booked for next week,
for a total of $1888 with taxes. Huge money for us, but it's a splurge,
not planning on doing anything this extravagant again for many years.
It's also the last time I will stay on Disney property before I work for
them. I will probably not post here or online anywhere any more, and
after all these years of posting TR's and sharing great times with
Radpers, I thought I'd do a swan song TR. My last TRurrah.
Thankfully we are staying on weekdays so we will be spared having to
listen to live music wafting over the trees from the Flower Power bands.
Don't know what it is that's made us such curmudgeons about it, probably
because we go so often it's not a novelty any more, it's an
inconvenience. The music is never that good, really. Sorry, just how I
see it. The experience would be greatly improved if the music offerings
were all ACOUSTIC. Joe says first it was the scattered severed Mickey
parts everywhere, then it was the Villains are taking over Disney World,
now it's loud mediocre amplified music everywhere, well, everywhere that
sells alcoholic beverages.
I think we will not make ADR's but just use the walkup line at Via
Napoli. If we get in line before 6 pm we never wait long. LOVE their
wood fired pizza. Best pizza in Orlando.
I would like to do one nice steak dinner at either Yachtsman or Shula's,
I will probably try and get an ADR for that.
Really we want to spend a lot of time in the room and at the pool, just
walking in and out of the back of Epcot.
We would have gone to the Polynesian but there is so much construction
in and around it, I can't bring myself to spend that much money and
maybe end up with a construction view room. I'm not sure I'll ever want
to risk having a view of the new GF Villas building. Perhaps it will be
nicer when it's finished, but it's such a hulking monstrosity next to
the poor little luau building and the Fiji longhouse.
We are club level, so I will make sure to take advantage of the
concierge lounge. We got upgraded to club level at the Poly, for free,
several years ago (Disney messed up our ressie and without our asking
for it, the desk agent just gave it to us at check in!), and we never
made it to the lounge once when it was open for goodies. Not letting
that happen again!
I'm also going to go look at the garden seminar schedule. My friend Kim
has been going on her days off, all season, and had brought back lots of
free plants. I wish I'd thought of that! Could've had a whole free
garden by now.
Also going to try some more Flower and Garden food booths. I tried
France already (yuck, I'm so done with the France pavilion), and Italy
(supurb, doing the lobster and asparagus again, and maybe again). Now I
want to sample the rest. Not expecting any lines, I've noticed the food
booths seem to be a bit of a bust. If I were Epcot management, I would
think about not trying that again, or scale it back to just one big
stand up front maybe.
One thing that will be very different about this trip is we will not be
buying merchandise, or at least not much. If we do it will probably be
nothing but ramune sodas from Mitsukoshi and maybe a bottle of sparking
sweet peach sake.

(though I've not eaten at the one at WDW - only the one here in town,
but I assume they are pretty much the same).
