We were there last week and I picked up a card for the Disney at Home store at
the Marketplace.

Their phone number is 407-828-2590.

I hope that helps. Also, if you know the name of a specific shop, you can
call information for the area. (407-555-1212)

jeanetteg,

Here is plenty of info for you!

CANDY CAULDRON: Satisfy your sweet tooth craving at this sinister sugar spot.
Themed as the Wicked Queen's dungeon from the Walt Disney animated film Snow
White, the Candy Cauldron features more than 200 tempting sweets, including big
chunks of fudge, caramel apples, hand-spun cotton candy, chocolate dipped
fruits, truffles, candy-coated pretzels and boxed chocolates.
Thou should not be surprised if asked to pay in "stones" and "pebbles." Inside
this Medieval scene, sales staff speak in Old English, referring to customers
as "villagers" and the adjacent Lake Buena Vista as the "moat." Prices range
from 40 pebbles (40 cents) for small character truffles to 55 stones ($55) for
the Disney Character Classics, an assortment of five boxes of candy.
Candy Cauldron is at Downtown Disney West Side, between Magnetron and Celebrity
Eye Works.
Hours: Sunday-Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-midnight;
Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1 a.m. For more information, call (407)
828-1470.

CELEBRITY EYEWORKS STUDIO: The Florida sun can be brutal on the naked eye, this
much is true. But shopping for sunglasses doesn't have to mean picking out a
pair from a rotating display at the corner drugstore, holding the price tag
away from your nose while you look in a postcard-sized mirror.
At Celebrity Eyeworks, shoppers can select from some of the most sought-after
fashions in the world. Barry Franzblau, owner of Couture Optic in Palm Beach,
Ca., has been providing eye wear for celebrities for years. With the opening of
his new store Celebrity Eyeworks, he offers the general public a wide range of
top-name brands in a movie studio atmosphere.
Franzblau's "stage hands" assist shoppers choose from brands such as Oakley,
Revo, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Gucci, Harley Davidson and RayBan. Prices
range from $49.99 for a pair of Guess sunglasses to $1,100 for a pair of
sapphire-and-gold-studded Boucheron shades -- or "face jewelry" as Franzblau
refers to these high-fashion styles.
Franzblau has outfitted actors with glasses in more than 100 motion pictures
and is continuously working with prop masters on new films to select
appropriate styles to enhance a character's role. Some of the films he has
worked on include Regarding Tess, Leaving Las Vegas, The Mirror Has Two Faces,
My Best Friend's Wedding, and From the Earth to the Moon. These days he's busy
jetting back and forth between Hollywood movie sets and his Orlando store. But
if you're lucky enough to see spot him during your visit to Celebrity Eyeworks,
ask him how you'd look in a pair of Boucherons.
Celebrity Eyeworks is located at Downtown Disney West Side, between Candy
Caldron and Hoypoloi.
Hours: 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; 10:30 a.m.-midnight, Friday and
Saturday. For more information, call (407) 827-0110.

FORTY THIRST STREET: Shopped 'til you dropped at Downtown Disney? Need a break
from Pleasure Island's jam-packed dance floors? Get revived at Forty Thirst
Street, situated right between the two locations. Fruit-packed smoothies,
decadent desserts and eye-opening cappuccinos and lattes are served at the
counter-service java joint.
A handful of tables are located inside the small dining area, where projected
images of fruit and stars bounce onto circular overhead screens and upbeat
music plays. Coffee served here is roasted on the "grounds" in a roaster that
sets in the middle of the dining area. Guests are welcome to observe during
roastings and ask questions -- or purchase the freshly blackened coffee beans
for $10.95 a pound.
Items for sale: cup of coffee ($1.95); mocca latte ($4.50); cheesecakes and
layered cakes ($3.95); big muffins ($2.50); jumbo cookies and brownies ($1.75);
Flyin' Hawaiian smoothie with coconut and pineapple ($4.75); Mango Tango
chiller with mango, pineapple, papaya and coconut ($4.25).
Forty Thirst Street is headquarted in Tampa and has 35 stores in the southeast
United States. Although this is a great place to take a break, it's not the
kind of place you sit for hours in a dark corner. Besides, after sipping that
java and juice, you'll be raring to go.
Forty Thirst Street is located at Downtown Disney West Side, between Pleasure
Island and West Side Shops.
Hours: 9 a.m.-midnight, Sunday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-2 a.m., Friday and Saturday.
For more information, call (407) 827-0100.

GHIRARDELLI SODA FOUNTAIN AND CHOCOLATE SHOP: Sink your spoon through a fluffy
tower of whipped cream right down to the gooey hot fudge and cool vanilla ice
cream. Mmmm ... Sound good? That's just a taste of what you'll find at the
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop -- a real San Francisco treat that
opened at Downtown Disney in December 1997.
Guests can purchase hand-scooped shakes, malts, ice cream sodas and ice cream
cones at the old-fashioned soda fountain. A chocolate shop, next to the soda
fountain, sells chocolates and gift packages, such as chocolate-dipped spoons,
decorative tins filled with chocolates, truffles, and the Café Collection of
chocolate and coffee beverages. Ghirardelli's new Baby Premier Collection
features smaller-sized chocolate bars wrapped in bright colors. True
chocoholics will want to try the Double Chocolate Mocha or Dark Chocolate with
Raspberries bars.
The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company was founded in San Francisco in 1852 by
Domingo Ghirardelli, the son of an Italian chocolate maker. The Downtown Disney
location is the company's ninth store.
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop is at the Downtown Disney
Marketplace, between World of Disney and Team Mickey.
Hours: 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m., daily.

GUITAR GALLERY: "Art you can play" is the slogan of Guitar Gallery, the retail
guitar shop which features more than 150 custom, collector, rare and unique
guitars from world-wide manufacturers. Even if you're not a musician, a peek
inside this store is worth the effort. You'll see hand-decorated guitars, such
as a surrealistic "Wonderland" Washburn guitar created by Sammy Hagar and his
son. An Ibanez model features a hand-carved Egyptian scene on its wooden face.
Guitars are suspended from hand-brushed aluminum walls and encased in rotating,
tubular display cases. Oversized guitar picks singed by famous guitar players
make up the store's "Rock 'n Roll Alley"
An investment-grade specialty shop, Guitar Gallery offers something for
beginners to experts and collectors. Guitar prices range from $199 for a
beginner's electric guitar to $25,000 for a Jimmie Rodger Limited edition, No.
24 of 100 (made with Brazilian rosewood, gold, fossilized ivory and mother of
pearl). Guitar brands sold here include Ovation (electric, acoustic), Washburn
(electric, acoustic, banjos), Martin (acoustic, mandolins), Guild (electric,
acoustic), Gibson (electric, acoustic, mandolins), Ibanez (electric, acoustic)
and Fender (electric).
The store also sells guitar accessories, including slides, tuners, guitar
straps, books, educational videos and introductory learner packages. Novelty
items include T-shirts, key chains and candles.
If you're interested in purchasing a one of the shop's guitars -- or mandolins
or banjos -- there's a small jam room in the rear of the store for you to test
it out first. When you're ready to pay, take note of the guitar-shaped checkout
counter with inlaid mother of pearl.
Storeowner George Hines is a Philadelphia native who owns George's Music Inc.,
a national chain of musical instrument stores. This is his first Guitar
Gallery.
Guitar Gallery is located at Downtown Disney West Side, opposite to Virgin Mega
Store.
Hours: 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; 10:30 a.m.-midnight, Friday and
Saturday. For more information, call (407) 827-0118.

HOYPOLOI: It isn't surprising that you instantly begin to relax when you enter
this "gallery of art and decor." Soothing music plays in the background and
water trickles over Japanese river stones in the Zen fountains. The aroma of
pine, sage and berry wafts from a scented oil display. In fact, Hoypoloi's
(pronounced hoy pa loy') mantra is to help its customers create a tranquil home
environment with handmade artwork and nature-related home products. One of the
store's signature items is its Japanese Zen Board ($30). When water is applied
to the paperboard, the brush stroke turns black; when it dries, the image
disappears forever, illustrating the importance of "enjoying the moment."
Founder and owner Ron Hoy modeled the Hoypoloi at Downtown Disney after his
original gallery in Chicago's historic Chinatown. Although there is an
unmistakable Asian overtone to Hoypoloi, most of the merchandise is created by
American artists.
Artwork for sale varies from day to day, however, merchandise in the past has
included the following items:
Hand-carved teakwood Buddha head ($450)
Zen stone gardens of varying sizes ($30-$65)
hand-carved and hand-tuned wind chimes made of mahogany obsidian needles
(cylindrical rocks formed from ancient volcanic lava) ($53)
Whimsical, animal-shaped lamps ($150-$210)
Hand-carved teakwood elephant sculpture ($1,200)
Greeting cards decorated with hand-dyed paper and origami ($10)
Ceramic vessels with decorative lids ($30)
handmade beaded jewelry with new and antique beads (earrings $20, necklaces
$130)
Pillows decorated with antique embroidery ($120)
Hoypoloi is located at Downtown Disney West Side, between Sosa Family Cigars
Co. and Celebrity Eyeworks.
Hours: 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 10:30 a.m.-midnight, Friday and
Saturday. For more information, call (407) 827-0112.

LEGO IMAGINATION CENTER: If you've ever found yourself building skyscrapers,
castles or symmetrical animals out of those famous interlocking blocks, then
you won't want to miss a trip to the new LEGO Imagination Center at the
Downtown Disney Marketplace. Officially opened Nov. 6, 1997, the
4,400-square-foot retail store is modeled after the original LEGO store at the
Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. And to be sure, this store -- in all its
primary-colored glory -- lives up to its name. Here, imagination is the name of
the game.
A step inside the dome-shaped building is like walking into build-it-yourself
world. A giant LEGO helicopter, dragon-riding knight and spaceship share the
air space overhead in a nighttime sky. Down on the floor, elaborate displays
provide ideas, while products on the shelves provide the materials to make
imagination come to life.
Detailed models depict various themes, such as buccaneers on the high sea.
Accessories include a Pirate Ship, Skeleton Crew and Volcano Island. Other
areas of the store have Western, aquatic, Medieval and city themes. There are
even dolls with their own two-story LEGO dollhouses ($123.99).
Of course, shoppers can still find the traditional buckets of LEGOs. Another
section of the store -- which looks like a tree house -- contains LEGO brand
T-shirts, sweatshirts, watches, CD-ROM games and even bedspreads and sheets.
But the store's interior is only half the fun. Outside is a 3,000-square-foot
hands-on play area filled with thousands of LEGO blocks and a jungle gym. Look
around, you're not alone -- the play area is also home to a life-sized LEGO
alien family, earth family and a larger-than-life dinosaur family. A 30-foot
sea serpent lives in the adjacent lake. Made from more than 1 million LEGO
bricks, the friendly serpent sprays mist from its nostrils onto passersby.
LEGO toys were founded in Denmark during the 1930s by Ole Kirk Christiansen.
Today LEGO products are sold worldwide.
The LEGO Imagination Center is located in the Downtown Disney Marketplace,
between the World of Disney store and McDonald's.
Hours: 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m., daily. For more information, call (407) 828-0065.

MAGNETRON: If you'd like to increase the magnetic personality of your
refrigerator, head to Magnetron at Downtown Disney West Side. From steel wall
to steel wall, this store has more than 20,000 magnets that can be dressed and
undressed, glow in the dark, appear good enough to eat and even talk back.
Prices range from $1.99 for a small magnet to $79 for a "humongo kit" that
contains more than 200 magnetic words.
The magnets at Magnetron attract almost every kind of personality. Here are a
few:
For the ...
Artistic: Check out Michaelangelo's David, a paper doll-like figure with a
diverse wardrobe. Dress him up in a suit, or play it a bit more casual with a
hula skirt. So much creativity you might start painting the ceiling.
Dog fancier: Chose from Akita to Yorkshire Terrier. These clay, hand-painted
figures can't fetch the paper or your slippers, but they do a good job of
holding the grocery list in place.
Nostalgic: The classics never go out of style. You'll find the sexy Marilyn
Monroe, the educational School House Rock, the Elvis-esque Graceland and the
not-in-Kansas-anymore Dorothy and Toto.
Youngster: OK, if you have kids these definitely won't stay on the refrigerator
for more than two seconds: Ernie and Bert, Big Bird, The Simpsons.
Superhero fan: Superman and Batman emblems can easily be placed on any steel
surface in your home, except for those muscles of course. And they are a
surefire way to impress guests -- who will start snooping around for capes and
caves.
Hungry: If the refrigerator is empty, then these faux foods are the next best
thing: nachos, pizza, sushi, burgers and fries, eggs over-easy, doughnuts and
Denny's-sized pancakes.
Thirsty: Well, after eyeing those scrumptious inedible, you're sure to be in
need of a beverage. Just imagine sipping from mini bottles of Coca-Cola and
Orange Crush or full-sized mugs of beer and bubbly champagne.
Night vision impaired: Made especially for Magnetron, these glow-in-the-dark
rubber figures are sure to catch your eye -- no matter what time of night it
is. How would a giant fly look in your kitchen? Want something more believable?
Check out an alien riding a skateboard and his extraterrestrial bride.
While you're shopping don't be surprised if the lights begin to dim and you
hear electricity crackling up along the ceiling. Every few minutes the store's
"magnetic generator" is powered.
Magnetron is at the Downtown Disney's West Side, between All Star Gear and
Candy Cauldron.
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-midnight; Friday-Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-1 am. For
more information, call (407) 827-0108.

SOSA FAMILY CIGAR COMPANY: The Sosa family has been in the cigar-making
business for more than 70 years. Exiled from Cuba in 1962, the family opened
its first U.S. store in 1964 in Miami. Today the fifth generation of Sosas
operate four stores in South Florida, and now have a location Orlando -- the
first store to carry the Sosa name.
Inside this small shop, you'll find more than 80 brands of cigars, including
Auturo Fuente, Padron, Diamond Crown, Imperio Cubano and the much sought-after
Fuente Fuente Opus XE. Sosa also sells smoking accessories, such as handsome
humidors ($100-$4,000), lighters, ashtrays and cutters, as well as shirts and
hats bearing the family name.
Over the years, the Sosa Company has earned a prestigious reputation among
cigar enthusiasts. In fact, the company's own Sosa Piramide No. 2 was rated as
the top cigar by Cigar Aficionado magazine in its March /April 1998 issue. All
of Sosa's cigars are manufactured in Dominican Republic.
Sosa Family Cigar Co. is located at Downtown Disney West Side, between the
Wildhorse Saloon and Hoypoloi.
Hours: 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m., daily. For more information, call (407) 827-0114.

STARABILIAS: Looking for that one-of-a-kind collector's item? Something like a
1952 Hopalong Cassidy original Restored Whizzer Motorbike ... or a guitar
signed by Elvis?
Starabilias is one store in Downtown Disney that you can't miss. You'll find
more than 1000 pieces of restored original memorabilia guaranteed authentic, as
well as nostalgic gift and novelty items.
Although merchandise is always changing as owners acquire new items from
private collectors, merchandise in the past has included the following items:

Emmitt Smith-autographed Dallas Cowboy football helmet ($895)

TEAM MICKEY: Mickey and friends get sporty at this athletic store. Here you can
purchase Disney brand and top-name sports gear for just about any game: golf,
basketball, track, football, tennis and soccer.
Here's a sampling: polo golf shirt with Disney character ($52), Disney
character golf balls ($18 for six), golf club bags with embroidered Disney
characters ($199), caps ($15-$20), straw golf hats ($40), T-shirts ($18),
Mickey Mouse tennis balls ($5.50 for canister of three), basketball jerseys
($55), biking shorts ($28).
Team Mickey is located at Downtown Disney Marketplace, next to Toys Fantastic
by Mattel.

TOYS FANTASTIC BY MATTEL: Barbie -- in her many guises -- is the main tenant of
this toy store. You'll find University Barbie, Princess Barbie, Birthday
Barbie, Teen Barbie, Dentist Barbie and Cool Shoppin' Barbie to name a few.
Barbie's little sister, Stacie, is also available.
For those who'll have nothing to do with dolls, there is a wall full of Hot
Wheels cars and accessories. The store also sells toddler toys, Disney dolls
and puzzles. Not sure what to buy? Take a look at the Mattel Television (in
pure MTV style) that continuously displays the hottest toys on the market.
Toys Fantastic by Mattel is located at Downtown Disney Marketplace, next to
Team Mickey.
Hours: 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m., daily. For more information, call (407) 828-3388.

WORLD OF DISNEY: If you're looking for the quintessential Disney souvenir this
is the place to be. The World of Disney is the largest Disney store in the
world with 50,000 square feet of character merchandise in the form of clothing,
home décor items, handbags, caps, jewelry, kitchenware, stationery, storybooks,
candy, videos, toys and more.
The sprawling store features 12 Disney-themed areas, such as Sleeping Beauty in
the pajama department and Cruella de Vil of 101 Dalmatians and Ursula from The
Little Mermaid lurking in the jewelry department.
In the toy section, Alice in Wonderland sits atop a mountain of stuffed toys
facing a 25-foot wall of more stuffed characters. Kid-sized Mad-Hatter chairs
are clustered around monitors playing Disney videos. In this area you'll also
find Disney CDs, cassettes, storybooks and activity sets.
Clothing takes up much of the gigantic store. There's something for everyone:
Children: T-shirts ($14-$16), play dresses ($28), baseball caps embroidered
with characters ($14) and handbags ($14).
Babies: toddler T-shirts ($12), caps ($10), cotton one-sies ($16-20), jumpsuits
($28), character bibs that squeak ($12), denim overalls ($30), sweatshirts
($18)
Dress-up princesses: Sparkly, sequined, shimmering dresses for little girls
replicate the outfits of Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping
Beauty, Jasmine, Tinker Bell, Belle, Minnie Mouse, Meg and Esmeralda ($45-55).
Dress-up pajamas ($26-$28).
Adults: embroidered T-shirts ($34-$38), polo shirts embroidered with Winnie the
Pooh ($32), long-sleeve, button-up shirts ($48), shorts ($34).
Women's intimate wear: robes ($48-$59), nightgowns and nightshirts ($25-$48),
silk short pajamas ($52), Mickey Mouse cotton panties ($6). Other items include
a variety of Disney character slippers.
In the kitchenware department, you'll find everything you need to convince
dinner guests that you have been thoroughly pixy-dusted. Here are a few
examples: Mickey Mouse waffler ($59.95), Mickey tablecloth ($36), Disney latte
mug with saucer ($8), Winnie the Pooh tea kettle ($30), Mickey apron ($20),
Mickey-shaped coaster ($2), Mickey-shaped pasta ($4.95). There is also an
abundance of glasses, pottery and dishes.
After a peek inside the jewelry department, you'll agree that a Mickey Mouse
watch isn't what it used to be. Here you can choose from hundreds of watches,
ranging in price from $25 for a leather-banded character watch to $6,900 for a
gold, diamond-studded Mickey timepiece. In this room, you'll also find
elaborate snow globes ($35-$95), rhinestone clutch bags ($100-$1,500) and
decorative picture frames ($14-$16.50).

Imagination Center.

Huh? What? Old English? Pebbles and stones?

Darn! The guy behind the counter just spoke plain old American to me, and he
was perfectly willing to accept my green paper. Wish I'd brought some stones
instead. : )

The caramel apple that my husband had was colossal, BTW. We ate our treats
overlooking the "moat."

It's at Downtown Disney's West Side, across from Bongo's. Look for the Old Hag
from Snow White on the sign.

Thanks - that explains why I didn't get there last trip, because we
never made it to Downtown Disney. This coming trip, in December, we
have ressies for Fulton's and will walk around DD a bit. I'll be sure
to visit the Candy Cauldron - although as pointed out earlier, if I'm
that close to it, my radar will doubtless deposit me right in the
middle of it.
