I really like the music at AK. I bought CD and listen to it quite
often. I know this isn't in a park, but I really like the music they
play around AKL, like at the bus stop.

Who knows!
Need to know more about RADP (rec.arts.disney.parks)?
Good topic!!
The whole Illuminations track rates pretty high with me. That's such a
perfectly paced and coreographed show. I hear there's a Christmas
version now, but I have trouble imagining anything they could do that
would be an improvement.

In this order:
1. Fantasmic!
2. Main St. Electrical Parade
3. Golden Dreams (American Adventure)
Also, the individual original-sponsor Future World pavilions had
excellent area soundtracks.
One of the great musical accomplishments, in the original EPCOT
Center, was the seamless transitions as you moved from area to area.
Last time I checked, The Land is still playing its original area
soundtrack (the last one doing so as far as I know).

Main Street Electrical Parade!!!
But there's so many great music, it's hard to stop at one.

This is a great topic!
Music is one of the best parts of being at Disney and I use it to bring
myself back there whenever I need a break... and I love listening to
park music when I'm getting ready for a trip.
1. The entrance music to Epcot. There's just something about it the
makes my pulse quicken.
2. Illuminations is good... but I agree with the person who wrote that
Promise closing the park is always nice to hear (especially when there
are fewer people around).
3. I dunno' why, but I've made up my own "lion sleeps tonight"
weem-a-way style lyrics to the Adventureland area music. I can't do it
for the full 40minute loop, but it's fun for a little while.
4. The DL Space Mountain soundtrack (which is, presumably, the WDW SM
soundtrack now, too), is awesome. Sounds a LOT like the updated theme
to Lost in Space... just great.
5. The ride soundtrack to Soarin'. The pre-show queue at DCA is good,
too.

Have you heard the song "I Like Bananas"? It used to be played in the
Dino area. There is just something about that song...
Imagine "SWING" music
I dont like your peaches
They are full of stones
I like bananas
Because they have no bones
Dont give me tomatoes
Cant stand ice cream cones
I like bananas
Because they have no bones
No matter where I go
With Susie, May or Anna
I want the world to know
I must have my banana
Cabbages and onions
Hurt my singing tones
I like bananas
Because they have no bones

SpectroMagic! On this magic night....
I hear that music and I am instantly transported back to Main St. on the
night we saw it for the first time, with my daughter's eyes big as
saucers. And when she saw the dancing dragonflies with the lighted
wings, she tried to dance away with them.

Rodney,
I've gone out and purchased several artists featured on that track. I'm
especially fond of Mory Kante. http://www.morykante.com/

Rhapsody.com has several versions of that to stream! Wonder which one is
the one Disney used?

I got happily turned on to a whole world of New Age music from the
Wonders of Life pavilion loop.
The original score for Horizons is incredible original music.
I wish they'd put the time and money into the music again, in that
complete of a way. The new score for Spaceship Earth was kinda...
brief? Shallow? Anyone else feel that way?
~Amanda
For me, the list includes"
MSEP - have the Fantasmic CD with one of if not the most complete
edition of this sound track.
Grim Grinning Ghosts - love Thurgood's voice. Have multiple versions of
that one, but one I got off iTunes a couple months back with includes a
slower paced final verse is my favorite.
Tomorrow's Child from Spaceship Earth
Universe of Energy - the pre-ellen closing theme, and the only saving
grace of the original attraction.
One Little Spark - from the good edition of the Journey into
Imagination. Thank the Great Maker I have that entire attraction on
video tape.
Space from the long gone Horizons attraction, found on the CD "The Music
of Disneyland: Walt Disney World and Epcot Center" along with the
previous three. Shorter versions of the first two are there also.
What I have better recollections of, however, are how the music in the
parks wraps you in a continuous envelope, with the music level being
consistent without drowning you out, and the source not easily
distinguishable. I remember actually trying to hunt down speakers to
find they were well secluded in bushes and behind fabrics on buildings
that didn't look like fabric. The execution, even though figured out,
is still magical.

And if you hunt around, you can listen to the original at that site,
too. So familiar, and yet, there are differences. Fascinating listen.

I love how the music changes as you walk from land to land (MK, AK) or
pavilion to pavilion (World Showcase) but its so subtle that you don't
notice it. I have actually tried to find the "sweet spot" between countries
in WS where I can hear both, to no avail.

Yeah, I remember us talking about the AKL music years back and someone
posted a bunch of artist and title info. I remember Mory Kante being
one that I liked a lot.

Me too! Love that music. I really didn't enjoy MSEP when it ran during
our one trip. I was VERY happy to see Spectro back in March. I get
goosebumps whenever I hear the start of it.

I think it was the one Vully referenced; that begins with Are you ready

There's a Christmas version? Or Reflections of Earth, then the
Christmas tag at the end? (Which really isn't part of RoE...)
I never made it to Illuminations this year...

If I can only pick one, it's Reflections of Earth (which is actually 8
tracks, but I digress.) It's even better when the fireworks go with
it.
I'm not even counting We Go On...
> What's yours?
Baroque Hoedown. I could listen to it all day and not get tired of it. It's
the music that says most of all to me, "I'm really at Disneyland!" (Even
though, technically, these days it means I'm at DCA.)
Runner-up: "A Pirate's Life for Me". I think they've been doing a great
job with the PotC movies, but it's a crime that they still haven't done a
proper rendition of that song yet. (No, the bit at the beginning of the
first movie does *not* count as a proper rendition.)
Honorable mentions: the Tiki Room theme and "Grim Grinning Ghosts".
