Who, where, when, etc.: Me (Kitty, aka Bashful) forty-mumble-mumble
years old, and my bashful hubby Rocky, fifty-mumble-mumble years old.
This is our 16th trip to WDW, the first being our honeymoon in 1997.
Were DVCers and stayed at our home resort, Boardwalk Villas, in a
studio, from Dec. 5th to Dec. 13th. Im a vegan (I dont eat meat,
dairy or eggs), but DH is not. Were both pretty bashful me being
worse at the one-on-one, and Rocky being worse with crowds. So yes,
were going to the most crowded vacation destination on the planet, with
a plan to meet a bunch of axe murderers for the first time. Clearly we
drank the Kool-Aid.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Slept in a little later today, but felt rather out of it once we did get
up, and wondered why wed bothered. Breakfast in the room, and bus to
Downtown Disney.

I always like to make at least one excursion here each trip. World of
Disney always ends up with a little bit of our money, and this time I
was also on the lookout for some last-minute holiday gifts. I realized
a little too late that December here is WAY crazier than November. We
browsed a couple of shops on our way to WoD a big mistake in
hindsight. If I ever come back here in December, I will make sure Im
at the door to WoD when it opens, with a list in hand. I can browse the
other stores afterwards. (I cant even begin to imagine what kind of
madhouse this was on Saturday morning, with the special passholder / DVC
thing! All thoughts of checking it out on Saturday the 12th were
quickly squashed.)

After finding what I wanted and waiting in line for half an hour, I was
ready for lunch. (For the record, Rockys usual routine now is to make
one quick sweep through WoD, then head for a bench outside, and just
enjoy the sunshine until Im finished. This time, I really couldnt
blame him.)

Off to Earl of Sandwich sandwich for Rocky and nice salad for me
(along with a snack bar for protein). Normally, we would have continued
onto the West Side, just for some leisurely browsing, but WoD had made
me a bit grumpy and burned out on shopping (something I didnt think was
possible, LOL). I had wanted to just get a look at the balloon, but it
wasnt flying today too windy, Im guessing. We saw it (grounded)
from a distance, and I decided that was good enough. So, it was back to
the room for a break.

(Just a side-note for other shopping fans here. I love that you can
have your purchases shipped to your resort, but I must admit that makes
shopping a little bit anti-climactic. After that long, long wait, its
sort of difficult to leave the story empty-handed.)

Since the morning had been a little disappointing, we headed for Epcot
around 2:00, hoping to find some fun. We decided to save the world, and
signed up for a Kim Possible mission. This was something new for us,
and was actually pretty cute. Some effects are better than others, some
countries more fun than others, but its something different. We saved
France, Japan and Germany. (I think my favorite effect is the one in
the little miniature train village in Germany.)

We then caught the Christmas storyteller in Germany, and then in Italy.
Its something we cant do any other time of year, and the stories
were interesting.

Not taking a proper mid-day break was taking its toll on Rocky, though,
so we decided to make this an early night. Back to the room for a
simple dinner and some TV.

Yeah, I remember this from our December trip a few years back. WoD was
worse than any mall or store I've ever been in. We had to wait in line
just to browse, and then wait in lien to get in a queue to wait to
check-out.

LOL! We always drive to DD and put our loot in the car, but we do use
the resort delivery when shopping in the parks, unless it's just a
last-minute purchase as we are walking out.

Wow, Rodney, must have been some expensive merchandise you were
purchasing if you needed a lien just to check out...what did you
use to pay, a Jumbo Loan? ;-)

Dammit! But this is Disney, of course, so a 2nd mortgage is not out of
the question.
