"9" came in only in second place in its debut week, barely breaking $10M.
But it was released only in 1600 theaters, and so it had a solid per theater
average of $6400. Over at rottentomatoes.com

"9" has been up and down around the cutoff point. I just checked it, and it's
currently down, just below the 60% mark. I don't think this movie will have
much legs.
For the past few weeks "Ponyo" has had strong legs. But this weekend was
the first weekend where it lost a large number of theaters, leading to a 50%
drop, albeit from a four-day weekend.
Opening this weekend was "Walt and El Grupo".

An interesting documentary on Walt Disney's goodwill tour of Latin America,
which led to "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros". I hope this movie
gets a wider distribution in the coming weeks.
Let's see how well "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" does.
