We here in Toronto have discovered a website that has dance items and
other promotional materials for sale to the dance community. Please
check out www.dancetshirts.com........

We've noticed a logo on this website that is VERY MUCH like ours. We
were wondering if other groups browsing this newsgroup would check the
site and see if they find something similar.

If so, what have you or your club done about it?? We are not happy
about this and are looking for some direction from other groups.

I have never seen a site that makes such extensive use of
cafepress.com's techonology. Basicly, if you ever want a custon
t-shirt, just create yourself a "store" on cafepress.com, upload a
image, and order one for yourself.

As in do you recognize YOUR dance groups logo or emblem or anything that
you use to represent your group on this website?? There are about a
hundred or so logos available to choose from, and I know they didn't
spend the time creating them!

I recognize nearly all of them as royalty-free clip art which was included
in the Corel Draw clip art package (among others). There is one specific
logo that I recognize from elsewhere, but I've seen numerous companies use
it, so I would imagine that it, too, is a royalty-free logo. In other words,
they're free game for anyone.

My suggestion: Rather than using pre-packaged clip art, design your own logo
or have someone design a custom logo for you. This way, you don't risk
sharing logos with others.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Atkinson

Our beef is that we DID design our own logo, and now we find it copied,
stripped down and posted on the web. Yes, they took our name off, but
to us it was immediately recognizable as ours. We're assuming that
they've done this with others, and we were trying to find out which
other clubs might be as irritated as we are and if anything could be
done about it.
