There are....

...but we can't post them here. Violates their privacy. How would you like
would your account rigged to get 100's of unwanted pieces of email a day??
...see the problem???

Besides, they rarely respond, so, your wasting your time and the poor
writers. If they wanted to talk to the net, they would come here.

For now, be happy with X-X-Factor writer Peter David and upcoming Uncanny
X-Men script and current Deadpool writer Mark Waid. Check them out on
rac.misc. ...and they don't like email either, ask anything you want to
know PUBLICLY and they will answer it. Ask it privately and see it
ignored.

It doesn't violate their privacy!! They post their addresses here out of
their own free will. They could try and disguise them or use corporate
accounts, but they don't (I don't think?). When you put a return address
on an envelope, does that violate your privacy?

I told the person who asked for Nicieza's address exactly that.

Almost as easy as answering the questions.

By the same token, though, we must exercise a little common courtesy.
Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean that it's
the right thing to do. If they *really* wanted us all to have their
e-mail address, they would have made a point of posting it on all comic
related newsgroups.

OK, stand back everyone, I'm gonna jump in on this one.

Basically, kids, this is the problem. Some fellow (Ben something or other,
I think. For convenience, I'm gonna call him Ben. If that's not his name,
too bad, have a donut) did something that most people consider rather
offensive. This action broke a commonly understood rule, but a rule that
was not often mentioned (mostly because it is incredibly obvious to anyone
with the intelligence of cheese). Thus, Ben could have made an innocent
mistake.

Alright, no problem so far. We all make little mistakes, like when I said
Speedball was a mutant (just kidding!). As long as you're cool about it,
things are usually fine. This is, after all, the friendliest group on the
net. But, for mysterious reasons probably linked to a defensive streak and
various personal problems upon which I refuse to speculate, Ben got all
huffy about people pointing out his mistake. Again, maybe this is
understandable. After all, some of the people were less than immaculately
nice when pointing out Ben's mistake. While this is the friendliest group
on the net, this is also the _net_, where reprogramming people's computers
to erase all their homework then explode violently while a sound file of
maniacal laughter plays is considered downright neighborly. So it is also
understandable that some people were a bit... snippy, you might say.

Still, things were fine. Ben could have taken a few shots, apologized,
then retreated. I've done it, it's not so hard (oooooh, those dark days
that first September of mine). But instead, Ben fought back, insisting that
his mistake was no mistake at all, and that the sacred cow of net ettiquete
was in fact due for steak duty. And people saw this, and jumped on the
flame wagon. Thus, a flame war was born.

So here we are. Ben refuses to stand down, and his opponents refuse to let
up. The insults are getting worse, and DRH has entered the fray, most
likely because he justs likes a good flame war (nothing personal, I call 'em
like I see 'em). This, of course, is just attracting more flamers, who hope
to score points by zapping a net Dino. Most likely, it will go on until
everyone finally just quits in disgust, and Ben disappears in a cloud of
disgruntlement.

So kids, just sit back and lay off. Everyone admit that they were a tad
harsh on Ben, and Ben admit that you were and are wrong. Posting addresses
on the net is naughty, even if they are public on AOL. AOL is very very
small, while the net is fucking big. It's sort of like being well known for
your cooking in a small town and being the rave of the known galaxy for your
cooking. It's a question of scale.

J. Spectre - well, that's all, kiddies. Be nice, and don't play with the
radioactive bits.
