You know what, This is just like the show Reaper. First the devil
becomes all friendly and social with you. Then he tells you your mom
sold your sold to the devil years ago. Then he asks you for a favor of
chasing down monsters and returning them to hell. It happens all the
time.

Although on the over hand, should I be surprised that Hell has become
one huge inefficient bureaucracy? Somehow miles of red tape and forms
to fill out just seem to make sense for hell. Although it does seem
surprising that the devil would let a union form in hell.

Only one of those things has happened in the strip, to that end, it's
nothing like Reaper.

I'm always amazed at what's accepted and criticied in the world of
nonsensical cartoonery.

It was just a joke. It would have made just as much sense if I had
said "I bet the devil is just sucking up to her to get her to help him
move to another apartment."

You don't think it's strange that talking animals only exist in
Barkeater Lake? I bet it's because a wizard did it. :) j/k

From his preface to The Screwtape Letters (1960), C. S. Lewis writes:

"The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid 'dens of crime' that
dickens loved to paint. It is not done even in concentration camps and
labour camps. In those we see its final result. But it is conceived and
ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted,
warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and
cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their
voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the
bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty
business concern."

From MST3k, Joel Hodgeson writes:

Evil works so much better when it is subtle.
