Neither kevinandkell.com nor herdthinners.com is resolving properly for
me at present. More alarmingly, Bil Holbrook's site at reuben.org is
"404 not found." Is this just me, or is there some larger problem?

Your post is a few hours old, but I am getting perfectly good
resolutions on the kevinandkell and reuben domains, with nothing for
herdthinners. Only reuben.org is answering up to HTTP requests.

Well, <http://www.reuben.org/ncs/members/biogs/holbrook.asp> works but
<http://www.reuben.org/holbrook/index.html> is 404'd.

Pinging <www.herdthinners.com> brings "Unknown host www.herdthinners.com"
and tracert isn't much better: "Unable to resolve target system name".

So I'd consider this a glitch in the name servers and a coincidental site
maintenance problem at reuben.org. YMMV.

I checked this morning and it was no-go, same a few minutes ago, around

As the site is coming up not-found it's more likely a .. heh .. Domain
Name lookup issue.

Heh.. Can't find Domain ... yeah, that's a good one.

Still the same a couple of hours later. I had noticed the transient
problem over the weekend as well.

Well, it's only herdthinners that isn't resolving. DNS finds
kevinandkell.com, but the HTTP server does not appear to be running.
And the 404 at reuben.org is yet another species of failure.

You don't suppose Bil has been selectively hacked by anti-furry forces,
do you?

I'm getting a "connection could not be established", not "Domain name could
not be resolved."

Traceroute indicates it is in fact a valid and resolvable domain, where
kevinandkell.com is 216.47.249.160.

The route terminates at host-69-48-51-138.mil.choiceone.net. ChoiceOne is a
connectivity provider. I interpret the above to mean that there's a problem
at kevinandkell.com's ISP.

Now, herdthiners.com DOES come up as an unresolvable domain. It's
registered to one Gary McClellan of Kentucky and doesn't expire until next
year.

Hm, this is interesting. Their name servers are their own, and one at
gdma.com. gdma.com is ALSO not resolvable, and registered to Mr. McLellan.
THEIR name servers are at worldnic.com. That's the ever-despicable Network
Solutions under another name. One wonders if NS is the source of all these
troubles.

Hm. "dig @ns33.worldnic.com herdthinners.com" shows this.

;herdthinners.com. IN A

Which would appear to mean that herdthinners.com is defined by its DNS
record not to resolve to anything. That's bad. I don't know if Mr.
McLellan or NS is responsible for the botch, of course.

Sorry about this. It's been going on all weekend and we're working
feverously behind the scenes to resolve it. Thanks for your patience!

I heard from Mr. McLellan. He's working to get DNS back up for
herdthinners.com. Content is there and fine, we just can't find it.

You really don't have to apologize for a slight delay in giving us all free
comics, Sir.

Well, I for one don't pay to use herdthinners.com. I do buy K&K books, but
Mr. Holbrook has never forced me to do that.

Apparently with all the luck of PG&E around where I live. PG&E have had
outages for the past week, an hour or more each time. Power went out
again last night during the Steelers/Chargers game and while keeping an
eye on the Angels/Yankees tally. Had to wait until this morning to see
how the both ended.
