Today (11/24/09) was yet another installment of whiny/bratty kids, put-
upon housewife, and insensitive/clueless father. I wasn't around for
the first run of the strips, and I guess I don't want to wait 10?
years for them to age into barely tolerable teenagers/adults - right
now, it's just an early version of The Buckets, Baby Blues, Marvin,
and whatever other strips that show what a PITA kids can be :^(

It surprising how many strips that were "groundbreaking" in their day
don't hold up well to the pasage of time. FBoFW seems to have fallen
into this category.

I can think of only a handful of these accalimed strips that I have re-
read years after their original publication and still can see the
genius- Peanuts, Doonsebury, The Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes, and
Bloom County.

And farther back in comics history, George Herriman's Krazy Kat.

It's in my daily paper, so i read it but wouldn't seek it out.

However, i cannot tell a lie - i think the new stuffed Farley is
absolutely adorable. Often, these things don't look like the
drawing and don't capture any personality at all, but it looks
like they've done a superb job recreating Farley in 3D:

In article <f45a3744-7d7b-46ac...@r31g2000vbi.googlegroups.com>,

I would add Pogo to that list.

OMG, he *is* adorable! Thanks for the link. If I had a dog-loving kid
to shop for, a plush Farley would be on MY list, even if he doesn't
arrive by 12/25.
