I just found a book compilation of a 1990s comic strip called "Dave"
by David Miller. Those are insanely common names, and Google isn't
turning up much besides that the strip began in 1992. Does anyone have
more history on this strip?

Dave ran from September 13 or 14, 1992 to March 16, 1999. It was
from Tribune Media Services.

Dave had a girlfriend named Darla, had a job, etc. In one of the
last strips that ran, he proposed to Darla. Maurice Horn had an
article on Dave in the Encyclopedia of Comic Strips.

(I remember it, because the Cincinnati Post canceled Funky
Winkerbean for it, just as Funky's time warp to 1992 had taken place.
I was absolutely upset that Funky was axed.)

Thanks. These must be fairly young strips in this book, because even
though they're not dated, one explicitly mentioned that it was from
Father's Day 1993. The strip isn't terribly distinctive, but I like
the art style and the gags are rather consistently funny. I guess it
just didn't really have that "hook" to make it stand out in the ever-
crowded strip world.

=v= Here's what I wrote about it in 1997:

=o= Too obviously intentionally written to be "a 90s guy."
Occasionally there's a good joke if the subject is mountain
biking or coffee. That could well be a personal opinion. :-)

I did like the art. It ran online, so I e-"clipped" a few
strips to get well-drawn gags about bikes and coffee.
