Actually, I was thinking to write something about how surprising
it was nobody had mentioned the Beetles before, but you did beat me to
it. (It's been a pretty full week.)
It was a wonderful sequence, though, with just the sort of
cheery wordplay that pretty much defines Mutts.

I really enjoyed it. I clipped the strips from our newspaper for a
friend of mine who is a fan of all things Beatle. He'll get a kick out
it.

And a big improvement over the long "The dude abides" sequence we had
to suffer through over the last week or two. That one seemed quite
uncharacteristic of Mutts (since when do the Mutts animals walk on two
legs and act like humans?) and way too close to the "Joe Cool" Snoopy
strips, which were pretty annoying too.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that sequence. That one felt odd all the
way through, mostly because I felt like it was supposed to be making a
reference to something I hadn't heard of. I did like the rare view of
raccoons in the strip, though. (I imagine raccoons would feature in
comic strips more if it didn't take so much line work to establish their
eyes and tails.)
Earl and Mooch have stood up on hindpaws occasionally, and even
sometimes been in clothes, although usually when they're dressed up by
that neighborhood girl.

"The Big Lebowski".

Doesn't the fact that there are *exactly* 50 states seem a little suspicious?
