Although, really, isn't it accurate for a new comic done part time by a
kid? It takes time to actually build up an income, and I'm sure many
still aren't there.

Actually, I've been wondering, how are web comics doing nowadays? Is
the economy hurting them much?

I hasn't hurt Chris Muir over at Day by Day. He exceeded 100% of his
fund raising goal during his fund raising drive in August.

The reason I ask is I noticed not only did Shortpacked open up new ad
space not that long ago, but often there are no ads in them. I don't
follow enough to notice any general trends though.

My impression (based on limited actual knowledge) is that people with direct
income (like Pete Abrams and Bill Holbrook who sell memberships under
various names, or those like Jeph Jacques and R. Stevens who sell lots and
lots of t-shirts) are doing OK. Internet ad revenues are down in every
market, that I do know.

Maybe Bill can comment?

Well, perhaps the best way I can comment is to encourage everyone to
read the "Kevin & Kell" news this week. (Scroll down beneath the
strip at www.kevinandkell.com.) :)
