First five:
Cyclopse - you know, Scott Summers, 'ol fearless. The shy guy who becomes
the leader.

Marvel Girl - Jean Grey, the Marvel team's complimentary female member
who can't do much (now that was before all the telepathic powers, Phoenix,
Maddy, etc., when it was taxing for her to lift books with her telekinesis)

Iceman - Bobby Drake, total rip-off of the Human Torch.

Angel - Warren Worthington III, the happy-go-lucky playboy millionair with
wings (who's destined to become the brooding Angel of Death *sheesh*)

Beast - Hank McCoy, 'ol (non-blue) furball 'imself with the agility of an
ape(?).

*Notice all of them are white, and basically lame, no wonder the title
was a failure for about a decade*

Second team:
Storm - Ororo, goddess of the elements. ("By the Bright Lady..." -- what
bright lady?) [African]

Wolverine - Logan, fan boy fav, original "Anti-hero with a mysterious
background" ("I'm the best at what I do" -- big deal, I'm the best at
what I do, slacking off, procrastinating, etc.) [Canadian]

Colossus - Peter Rasputin, steel warrior with the heart of an artist.
(Living steel?!? - contradictory within itself, isn't it?) [Russian]

Nightcrawler - Kurt Wagner(? - sorry, don't remember his last name, since
I haven't read any X-related titles in years), blue teleporter with a tail.
("Vas?"; "bamph" there it is, fire and brimstone) [German]

Thunderbird - buffalo fighter who bit the dust. [American Indian]

Sunfire - aragant channler of sun's energy [Japanese]

can you tell I don't remember these two's names at all?

*a very racially mixed group, more personality and a good writer to boot,
it's starting to look good*

Others:
Longshot - fallen messaih from Mojo world, 6 foot 2, 80 pound worth of
sex machine. [Alien]

Dazzler - Allison Blair, disco queen turned super-hero. [white-American]

Forge - the maker. [American Indian]

Banshee - the screamer. [Scotish]

Havok - Alex Summers, Cyclops' brother with the egg beater on his head.
[white-American]

Shadowcat - Kitty Pryde, with the phasing body. [Jew]

Magik - Illyana Rasputin, Colossus's sister, 7 year-old demon sorceress.
[Russian]

Rogue - siphyoner of powers, thief of memories. [what is she, Aussie?]

Gambid - Remee something, fan boy fav, thief of hearts. [Cajun]

Psylocke - Elizabeth Murdock, English maiden turned Japanese assassin.
("... psy-knife, the focused totality of my psy powers") [British,
Japanese, who knows]

Jubilee - Jubilation Lee, rip-off of Boom-Boom. [Chinese-American]

Bishop - future X-man, don't know much about him. [black]

and of course
*drum roll please*

Magneto - Magnus, the benevalent dictator, master of magnetism. The original
mutie-baddie. [Jew]

anyone I forgot?

Ok, as for the origins, THEY ARE ALL MUTANTS, so we don't need to write no
stinking origins.

*sigh* too long a set-up for the punchline, don't you think?

Aussie? Hell no. She's a good ole southern gal. Southern USA, not southern
hemisphere. :-)

Actually he's now supposed to be a gypsy, not Jewish. But I believe that's
a retcon.

By the way (this bit addressed to the original poster).. check out
rec.arts.comics.xbooks .. that's where we X fans all hang out.

By the way Magneto is not a Jew but a Gypsy, I have Magneto #0 which
explains this.

Did I miss something? Did rec.arts.comics.xbooks lose its charter? Why are
mutants invading racm?

For those of you who don't know, the reason there's a separate newsgroup for
the X-Men is so that they can be discussed there instead of here. People
have been remarkably polite about not flaming you newbies about it so far,
and it's appreciated, I'm sure, but enough is enough. You are welcome to
discuss any comics here in racm except X-books. X-books are discussed in
racx.

And I'll sing the refrain one more time again even though it's been said
many times before and is thus redundant and repetitious:

********
Please read the FAQ of a newsgroup before posting to it. Most FAQs are
posted once a month and also available anytime via ftp from rtfm.mit.edu.
********

And if you don't feel like you've been flamed, it's only because you don't
know what "rtfm" stands for.

Yours,
---
