It is less difficult to photocopy an artboard than you might think.
What you need (aside from your art) is a photocopier that can copy
onto 11 x 17 paper. If it has recently had toner added (and if your
pencils are dark enough) that will make the process easier. The
copy shop I use has fairly new machines with a 'photo' setting that
gives me better results than the normal 'automatic' setting. Expect
to fiddle with the contrast setting to get the best results; I
usually end up with at least a bit of grey in blank spots in order
to get best reproduction of fine lines.

Does this answer your question? If not, feel free to email me.

I'm looking for some clarification on art submissions to comic companies,
specifically Marvel. The file at ftp.dhhalden.no says that one should send
photocopies of one's work to the submissions editor. Check. It then goes
on to say the following:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MATERIALS
Professional pencilers work on a 10" x 15" area floating within
an 11" x 17" artboard. Artboards are generally Strathmore 2ply
coldpress cardboard with a slightly rough finish. (A too smooth
surface, like mechanical drawing paper, generally makes the
pencil lines smudge.) Pencillers generally use an HB pencil (or
non-repro blue pencil) for sketching and laying out a page, and
a 2H to 5H pencil for the final drawing and finishing of the art.
------------------------------------------------------------------

So, my question is this: Does Marvel actually want submissions of a
artboard photocopies? (Is it less difficult to photocopy an artboard than I
might think it is?) I'm serious about this question. Anyone who can fill
me in on this technicality? (If you can't tell, I'm somewhat out of my own
areas of interest here!)
