This mini-series was a tie-in to Warren Beatty's movie. IMO, it was
Kyle Baker's worst art job ever -- until Deadpool Max. IIRC, the whole
thing was collected into a trade, but even the individual
prestige-format issues were a long slog because of Baker's leaden,
inert artwork. He seemed to either miss the point of Chester Gould's
haiku-like minimalism or have complete contempt for it, presenting an
over-caricatured mess that didn't even bother to capture the charm or
simplicity of the movie (which was pretty good despite Beatty
miscasting himself in the title role.)
OTOH, it's worth getting out of any discount box (dollar box,
whatever) just for the curiosity value of seeing what a complete
failure of a comic book looks like when Rob Liefeld has nothing to do
with it.
