Just thought I'd toss that out there.

His face (in the movie, not the main picture on his IMdb page) made me
think of an Alan Davis drawing of the character. And while I think the
character is more than worthy enough and able enough to carry a movie or
television show on his own, I thought he'd make a good secondary
character to give the Avengers movie more superheroes in their ranks.
Michael
A good idea, but they'll probably wait for Avengers II to throw in the
secondary superheroes.
With any luck they'd turn Black Panther into a militant African-American
character from inner city ghetto that doesn't pay child support.
Last I heard they were thinking of including at least some version of
Henry Pym and The Wasp as well as maybe another hero or two.
Has anyone heard/read anything about Ed Norton being involved?

>Chiwetel Ejiofor
...One of the few names in acting which is just as unpronouncable when
ROT13'd.

He was in a martial arts movie a year or so ago, RED BALL, that demonstrated
his action / acting chops, with that former magician who plays a lot of
magicans in movies and tv shows, something Jaye.

Redbelt with Ricky Jay.
Did he look like he'd look good in spandex?
Michael
Will this be reserve of Fantastic Four where a black actress played Alicia
Masters but she was not explicitly stated as being black? Sue Storm was
played by a hispanic actress while Johnny was played by a white dude.
They made Michael Keaton look good in spandex, or whatever he wore in
BATMAN.

Considering he's British, that's impressive. Then again, how does he look
"Americanized"?

Chiwetel Ejiofor has been mentioned before as a leading candidate for
the role. Perhaps most significantly so by John Singleton who has
been attached to the project to bring T'Challa to the big screen for
some time.

Ejiofor was also in Joss Whedon's SERENITY movie playing a physical
role. He has an impressive range (see "Kinky Boots") and, I agree
would be a great T'Challa.
Pulls off a good American accent in the movie I guess?
I want to say that the majority of that Batcuit was sculpted rubber but
I'm not at all sure.
Michael
Huh?
It is guaranteed that if a Black Panther movie is made, the general audience
will not get it.
This may lead to trouble.

Hmm. Marvel Black Panther, July 1966, Black Panther 'political' party,
October 15, 1966. Good call.

Stargate Universe SGU: It puts the "U" in "SUCKS"!
It's the show 'Defiling Gravity' would be if DG had more regulars,
fewer abortions, worse writers, and no budget for lighting.
Remember, you can't spell "disgust" without SGU!
Can you tell us what you mean by The Black Panther Party having made
the term "unpopular"?

I don't understand the question. "Unpopular" has a pretty well known
meaning. Nobody wants to call their movie or group or character or whatever
the Black Panther any more now that the Black Panthers have tainted the
name.

Not to say that there won't be confusion, tho. I recall reading awhile
ago that many folks thought that Wesley Snipes was going to play the
comic character, but the project was apparently about the activist
group (and fell thru anyway)...

...We live in a more enlightened time, Ken. Then again, late-night
arthouse showings of "Sweet Sweetback's Badassssss(*) Song" still
tends to get sold-out audiences consisting mostly of black folks. So
who knows what a live-action "Black Panther" flick would result in?
Personally would prefer seeing Denzel Washington in the role than
Wesley Snipes, tho.
(*) Would you believe that even Melvin Van Peebles isn't sure just how
many extra s's are in "Badasssss"?

...This is correct. IIRC, they even mentioned something to this effect
in one of the lettercols, and Roy Thomas went on record a couple of
times in the 80's about an alternative name that may have been Jack's
original name for the character, the "Coal Tiger". As for what the
actual Panthers thought about the whole thing, ISTR Huey Newton making
some comment to the effect that he "didn't give a damn what some
cracker funny book writer wrote", but that was a *long* time ago in a
college government course taught by a somewhat controversial professor
at the time. Might be tempted to look the guy up and see if he can
actually cite source for that one.
