HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Due to my recent car accident, I find I must sell some
artwork out of my permanent collection in order to buy another car. This
has not been a good year for me financially and I cannot consider taking
out a loan, so this is the only option unfortunately. No need to feel
bad for me, just buy something.
With one or two exceptions that are noted, prices are as marked, if you
think a price is too high, feel free to make a counter offer but I will
not consider it until I have offered the piece elsewhere for a few days
as I need to get as much money as possible given the situation. I am
offering this list to my own emailing list and the comicart-l mailing
list so act quickly if interested in anything. I will reply ASAP.
NOTE: Most Strip and some of the comic book art were pieced together on
scanner. Lines between panels DO NOT appear on actual artwork. All Art
is in great condition, no bends or cuts unless noted otherwise.
Shipping And Insurance Are Extra. Art will be packed well in multiple
sheets of double-ply cardboard.
Email me to reserve items or ask any questions about the art. Thanks!

Billy DeBeck BUGHOUSE FABLES Panel 1925
Best known for one of the century’s greatest comic strips, BARNEY
GOOGLE, DeBeck did this nonsensical panel cartoon in the mid-20s at the
same time he was working on the man with the googley eyes. It which ran
under several names, the best known of which is EMBARRASSING MOMENTS.
Note in the bottom corner where it says "Thanx To Billy Rose,’ who
probably inspired the gag in some way. Rose was of course a legendary
Broadway promoter and songwriter of the day. Original is dated 10-23-25
and is in Very Good condition save for a pair of pinholes near the top
two corners which is probably where the artist attached the board to his
drawing table. The piece measures approx. 6" x 6" and comes in a small

BASIL GOGOS - Screen Thrills Illustrated #1 Cover Painting
One of the most recognizable images to a generation of comics and
monster magazine fans, Warren Publishing used this piece extensively in

Comics Show, several people stopped dead in their tracks when they saw
this familiar icon of the late, great Warren publishing empire. Famous
Monsters cover artist, BASIL GOGOS, painted this striking half-face for
this first issue of SCREEN THRILLS ILLUSTRATED, an early Warren
Publishing magazine devoted to classic film serials and adventure
flicks. On heavy board measuring 12" x 19-1/2.’ Actual image area is 8"

TIMOTHY TRUMAN - STARSLAYER #18 Cover Artwork
Features both Grimjack and Starslayer with swords drawn. Grimjack in

This was Grimjack’s only full cover appearance in Starslayer. The

little GJ art on the market, the covers are long gone and absorbed into
private collections. This is an outstanding piece and I wish I could
keep it for myself but unfortunately I cannot afford to do so. My loss
could be your gain if you’re a big Grimjack fan as its a real beauty!
Comes matted and framed, image area is 9-1/2" x 14-1/2." Signed
"Timothy Truman ’83." In Mint Condition.
Image pieced together on scanner due to fact that art is framed. Large
moon and planets are actually pure white inside and figures are lighter
than they appear on this less than perfect scan.

FRANK WILLARD - MOON MULLINS/WILLARD FAMILY XMAS CARD ORIGINAL 1923
A rare and unique original, this is the actual artwork done in
full-color for Willard’s family Xmas card from 1923, which I believe was
the first year of his strip! Features Willard, his wife and little
daughter caroling while his character, MOON MULLINS, stands to the side
with his fingers in his ears to block out the caterwauling. Art is in
ink and watercolor, in very Good condition. Some smudging at bottom
margin, which could be easily cleaned and if matted, would look
fantastic.

FRANK WILLARD - Moon Mullins Sunday from 12/27/31
Great example of this classic strip featuring Moon’s Uncle Willie and
Aunt Mamie. They become involved in a fender-bender and Uncle Willie is
hauled off before a Judge who demands he explain his actions. The
explanation is that he couldn’t see very well and the Judge asks why he
doesn’t have his eyes examined? That isn’t the reason he couldn’t see,
it seems Mamie wanted to spiff up the car a bit and put curtains in all
the windows. She wouldn’t let him take down the ones in the front
window, hence the accident. They end up being hauled off for psychiatric
evaluation! Oy! Includes KITTY HIGGENS bottom strip also by Willard and
signed. Artwork is in Great Condition, very clean! Size is approx. 18" x
24." Comes matted and framed. Can ship that way or remove frame for
cheaper shipping.
