MERMAID PUBLICATIONS - "1995 Comic Book Contest"

We will be Canada's largest comic book publisher in 1995 and we're
looking for new artists and writers.

We invite you to enter our nationwide contest. We are seeking comic book
creators to join our company. Five winners will be offered contracts to
produce a monthly title based on their creations.

Entries must consist of comic book stories. The stories do not have to be
illustrated. If you are a writer who has a story that can be produced
in comic book form then you're eligible to enter. If you're an artist
without a story, then send us samples of your work.

The entries must include;

1. Five (5) to 20 complete pages. This means that the pages
must be completely inked and lettered. If you're a writer,
then we do not require artwork with your submission.

2. Main character portfolios with sketches and
biographies,

3. summary of the universe in which the characters exist,

4. and future plot outlines.

The stories must be in black-and-white, but the character sketches can be
in color. Artists who are only sending us samples of their work do not
have to have the pages completely inked and lettered. if you're a
penciller, inker, or letterer then just show us what you can do.

All entries must be received by September 1, 1995.

This contest is not open to the employees of Mermaid Publications or their
immediate families. Name, address, and phone number must accompany each entry.
Entries are non-returnable and become the property of Mermaid Publication, so
please do not send original art work. We are not responsible for lost,
damaged, late or misdirected entries. We reserve the right to increase or
decrease the number of contracts offered according to the quality of entries
received. This contest is not valid where prohibited by law. Judges'
decisions are final.
