Inspired by a recent threat in rec.arts.comics.marvel.universe, calling for
realism in super hero comics:

Dateline: Smallville, Kansas, USA: Tragedy was averted when the Kent family
narrowly averted being crushed by a meteor--only to die days later from
radiation sickness. Family, friends and neighbors attended the funeral of
Jonathan, Martha and baby Clark Kent.

Dateline: Gotham City, New York, USA: Local billionaire, Bruce Wayne,
announced today the opening of the Wayne Foundation: For Orphaned Children,
15 years to the day after his own parents were gunned down in front of him.
The Wayne Foundation would provide shelter and counselling for young victim
of tragedies, much like the therapeutic counselling that Wayne's family saw
to it that he received in his formative years.

Dateline: Washington DC, USA: The president announced the awarding of the
Purple Heart medal to Doctor Bruce Robert David Banner for courage beyond
the call of duty in saving the life of young teenager Richard Jones during
the testing of the Army top-secret gamma-radiation bomb. The award ceremony
was held in Arlington Park where Doctor Banner was buried due to radiation
sickness.

Dateline: Salem Center, New York, USA: Professor Charles Xavier was arrested
for the reckless endangerment of juvenile as it was discovered that his
School For Gifted Youngsters gathered children with birth defects and sent
them out on "missions" to save the world against criminals, psychopaths and
warlords.

Dateline: Central City, California, USA: Tragedy was averted when the US Air
Force scrambled two fighter jets and shot down an experimental spaceship
that had been hijacked. The remains of four terrorists were buried
yesterday. Meanwhile Doctor Reed Richards, chief designer and project head,
has been unavailable for comment.

Dateline: Central City, Ohio, USA: Tragedy struck, as a local police
forensic expert, Officer Barry Allen, was killed in a sudden electrical
storm.

Dateline: Star City, California, USA: Local millionaire, Oliver Queen, was
killed in a bizarre shoot out. Authorities report Queen was killed by
multiple gunshot wounds. The victims reported they were ambushed by a
"psycho Robin Hood", and acted in self defense, before they were taken away
to the hospital for minor arrow wounds. Witness accounts conflict with
statements by the victims, whom authorities revealed had lengthy arrest
records.

Dateline: Keystone, Ohio, USA: Tragedy struck as a young teenager was
tragically killed in a bizarre electrical storm while visiting the very
police lab where his uncle was killed. Wallace West is survived by family
and friends.

Dateline: Vietnam: Billionnaire, industrialist, inventor, Anthony Stark, was
injured and kidnapped while on a business trip. His kidnappers forced him to
work in a small lab in exchange he would be given access to medical
treatment. Stark managed to cobble together a powered suit of body armor and
break out and escape his kidnappers and into the surrounding jungle--only to
fall into a pit of quicksand and drown.

Dateline: New York City, New York, USA: Tragedy struck at Empire State
University. A foreign exchange student was caught in an explosion at an
engineering laboratory, suffering third-degree burns to his face as a metal
plate fused to his face. Paramedics managed to pry the plate from his skin
but he had already suffocated. Paramedics commented that from the moment
that plate fused to his skin, he was doomed.

Dateline: Atlanta, Georgia, USA: Scientists announced the discovery of an
undersea city, the fabled city of Atlantis--filled with dead bodies,
poisoned from a massive oil spill when an oil tanker was ripped open by a
coral reef.

Dateline: Washington DC, USA: Authorities reported a young woman was
hospitalized after several gunshot wounds. The Jane Doe has been remanded
for psychiatric care after claiming she her bracelets should have protected
her and that she was flee to her island paradise on her invisible plane.

Dateline: New York City, New York, USA: Local authorities announced that
former US Marine, Franklin "Frank" Castle, is wanted for questioning in the
disappearances and deaths of several local members of the local organized
crime scene.

Dateline: New York City, New York, USA: Benjamin Parker was shot by a
burglar overnight, fortunately Parker's young nephew, Peter Parker, was up
late finishing photos for his part-time photographer job for the Daily
Bugle, and managed to scare off the burgler. Quote Peter's aunt, May Parker:
"I shudder to think what would have happened if Peter hadn't been up and
called 911 in time. He's a real hero."

Nothing about a boxingglove arrow?
If he had a more stealth approach he could work out.

Wasn´t it just a minor scar until he went psycho and burned his face

See there is realistic superheroes :-)

Forgotten
CANADA:
A short man who had stuck blades up his arms was brought to a mental
institution after fighting several known gang members while screaming
that he was the best at what he did.

New York: The blind lawstudent Matthew Murdock tragically fell to his
death from a roof. Eyewitnesses says he was trying to jump over to the
roof of another building.

Police like to hold back some details in order to filter out people who
claim to have knowledge about a crime.

Jungle, armor, can't fly = drowning.

How realistic would it be if it was a minor scar--especially considering how
easy plastic surgery is?

Actually I hadn't thought of Namor.

Family members and friends report Murdock always had "episodes" ever since a
childhood industrial accident when he was hit with a barrel at warehouse and
hospitalized for weeks. Happy Morgan, Murdock's law partner, "Wow, he seemed
kinda shy outside the courtroom. I didn't know he was some kind of
daredevil."

The most realistic "hero/villian" is Catwoman. No superpowers, just a talent
for stealing and using cat themes.

Didn't she recently become more releastic by stop wearing that catshead with
skintight catsuit--which had no pockets to carry pilfered goods?

I wouldn't know, but I am darkly amused by Halle Berry's skintight,
skin-baring costume in the one picture I've seen of the Catwoman
movie. I thought directors tried to make the logistics of superheroics
(well ... supervillainy) more realistic, not less! Or at least, not
that much less. How can she move?

She prances. I just imagine her tiptoeing around the place, or she could go
the way of Keaton and hire a stuntman.

Don't forget BATMAN couldn't twist his neck in his costume.
