I just got the Day of Vengeance (countdown to infinite crisis) trade
from the library. This was the one dealing primarily with magic, and
the start of Shadowpact.

I was rather surprised to see them kill off the wizard Shazam, and
amused that part of the story took place in Dayton, Ohio.

Overall, I was pleased with the story, and the art was good. I had
no idea there were this many magical characters in the DC Universe,
because very few of them seem to be featured in any ongoing series that
I can subscribe to through the mail. (direct from DC) Other than the
occasional villain that shows up to do battle with Superman, I haven't
seen most of them before.

Many of the characters from that series go on to appear in the
Shadowpact ongoing series that ran for about 25 issues and was also
written by Bill Willingham...if you liked Day of Vengeance, you may
want to check it out.

As of the wizard, without spoiling anything, let's just say his death
is no different from any other death in super hero comics.

Wasn't he officially dead already? IIRC, it was his spirit that

If I pay for the gun, will you use it to kill yourself?

You realise of course that the FBI keeps track of everyone whom makes
threats of violence newsgroups? :)

Can you say "Echelon"? :)
