Tom McCraw (LSH/L* co-plotter/colorist), Jason Armstrong (LSH penciller),
Jeff Moy (L* penciller), Ron Boyd (LSH inker) and Mike McAvennie (LSH/L*
editor) were the guests on America Online's Legion of Super-Heroes Chat for
Tuesday, March 17, 1998. Legion of Super-Heroes Chat takes place every
Tuesday in the DC Comics Online area of AOL at 6:00 PM EST. Legionnaires
Chat is held every Thursday in the same area at 10:00 PM EST. (Keyword:
CHAT DC.) Regular guests include Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy, Jason Armstrong,
Ron Boyd and Mike McAvennie.

Thanks to T. Troy McNemar who originated the Legion Chat Reports; so much
of the format of these writeups was derived from his hard work.

DISCLAIMER: I can't guarantee the reliability of this report. Essentially,
the Legion chats involve about twenty-five fans shouting repeated questions
to the creators. The creators are sometimes unable to answer questions
thoroughly or clarify their responses. As a result, misinterpretations may
occur on my part.

SPOILERS: Information that spoils current or upcoming issues is found
toward the end of this report. There's no spoiler space to separate such
info from the more general comments.

SUBSCRIPTIONS: To subscribe to these chat reports, send an e-mail to

PLUGS: To subscribe to Lev Kalman's humorous LSH pics, send an e-mail to

new cartoon e-mailed to you about once every two weeks.

:=========================:

Ron inked pgs. 1-11 of LSH #103.

Jason will soon finish pencilling LSH #107; Jeff needs to see that issue
for reference to an event.

Mike's favorite Legionnaires include Cham, Jo, Tinya, Timber Wolf, Karate
Kid, and Rokk.

Jeff would like to see Nura in her outfit that debuted in L* #16. He'd
also like to see Tinya's middle black stripe extend all the way down her
costume. Jeff doesn't redesign preboot Legionnaires' costumes unless they
are reintroduced into current continuity.

Jason said that with LSH #105, we can expect less-cartoony figures and more
fleshed-out backgrounds.

There are no plans for the Legion to appear (or reappear) in LEGENDS OF THE
DCU or ADVENTURES IN THE DCU. Tom would like to see Levitz write a LEGENDS
arc.

Mike says the age range of the Legionnaires is 14-17.

Nara Minsork might return.

Jason thinks that Evolvo is potentially the most evil of the Workforce
members.

Maybe Jan can have a spotlight issue. Right now, he's on Outpost Allon.
He won't be dying any time soon.

In L* #60, when Sensor made the pilot believe that she was McCauley, that
was not supposed to contradict L* #59's establishing that her powers don't
work with electronic devices. In this case, she made the McCauley image,
and it appeared to be coming from the Omnicom; she wasn't broadcasting the
illusion through it.

There are no plans for a relationship between Val and Laurel.

There aren't any definite plans for the mini-series following SCIENCE POLICE.

It's still too early to reveal more about the Legion's guest appearance on
the next season of the SUPERMAN cartoon.

Lyle will feature in much of the Dark Circle storyline. After the Dark
Circle arc are a couple of single-issue stories.

The Workforce will soon gain some new members.

The new costumes for Brainy, Laurel, and Zoe are what they'll be wearing
for a while (adjust that "while" for Zoe, of course :) ). M'Onel is not
getting a costume change.

So does that mean we get to see T-Wolf sometime soon?

Yeah, as I recall that outfit, it would be, er, enjoyable for Jeff to
draw. :)

Seconded.

Cool.

"Maybe?!" Weren't we promised one over a year ago?

Mentally, maybe, but we last saw him at the party at HQ...

Hopefully he got proper permission first.

In the meantime, Jeff's going to hang out and watch a lot of TV.

I think he means the "thread."

Don't go there, Jeff!

>Jeff doesn't redesign preboot Legionnaires' costumes unless they

He doesn't sit around thinking up new costumes for Tyroc and Tellus? I'm
shocked!

>Jason said that with LSH #105, we can expect less-cartoony figures and more

Can we expect Universo to be randomly inserted into panels?

"You want to do a preboot arc? Okay, Mr. Levitz. Anything you say, Mr.
Levitz."

Mike needs to consult with his writers.

>Nara Minsork might return.

And this time, she's got a bazooka!

Who's his competition? Spider-Girl? How evil can you get with flowing
hair?

>Maybe Jan can have a spotlight issue.

Jan who? The silicone kid?

>Right now, he's on Outpost Allon.

Does he really matter where he is? Shove him in a closet, he won't know
the difference!

>He won't be dying any time soon.

Jo kicked his butt after he dyed Jo's costume.

Of course, if she can affect the perceptions of the person using the
electronic device, it doesn't really matter if she can affect the
electronic device.

>There are no plans for a relationship between Val and Laurel.

Permutation #23,702 down! How 'bout Val and Zoe?

>There aren't any definite plans for the mini-series following SCIENCE POLICE.

. . . but they're thinking about a 7 issue mini with Jan living in a
closet.

>It's still too early to reveal more about the Legion's guest appearance on

Does it have Superman in it?

. . . but he'll be invisible.

. . . including an issue with Jan stuck in a closet.

That's good. Evolvo and Sussa aren't much of a "Force" by themselves.

>The new costumes for Brainy, Laurel, and Zoe are what they'll be wearing

For God's sake, make them shower occaisionally!

. . . but he is changing his name to "Spunky."

The future, amoral Evolvo definitely.

Why does this scare me? And is Outpost Allon in this case meant to be a
colorful euphemism, like, say, Cloud Nine?

Nicely handled.

Invisible Kid. Or the Espionage Squad.

That's fine. I'm having fun just guessing.

Excellent, and excellent. I'd like to see maybe a year's worth of one or
two issue stories as a break from the epics. It could help hook kids who
get interested in the LSH via the SUPERMAN cartoon.

Use a reference book instead, Jeff! :)

Timber Wolf? Hmmmmm.

Ah yes, Nura's bellybutton-revealing outfit from L* 16 - perhaps the most
revealing LS uniform since Rokk's unknowing S&M special from the late 70s.

Not hard to do, given that it seems the Workfroce has two members right now.

Maybe Jan can have a personality reinstituted in the process. And what is with
these "X won't die" answers? Is someone always asking if certian heroes die?
It's like my brother used to be. I'd bring home a comic and he'd ask "does
anyone die?" with a warped grin.

Ahhhhh. I see. That makes sense. Almost.

Yes. At almost every AOL chat, some fan asks whether a specific hero will
die.
