:=========================:

Jeff liked his photograph (with Ron Boyd, WC Carani, and Phil Moy) in this
week's "Watch This Space" feature (as seen in SCIENCE POLICE #4).

There might be an upcoming issue of COMIC BUYER'S GUIDE devoted to the Legion.

Tom noted that Kara, the character from ALIENS/SUPERMAN who evokes the
pre-Crisis Supergirl, is "way, way off limits."

So far, there's no chance for the return of the Super Moby Dick of Space,
or any other whales, for that matter.

At least most of the *very* futuristic story elements of the millionth
issue won't show up in the books for a while, since those stories are set
so far off in the future. Tom doesn't know if the Legion will ever face
Solaris, the Tyrant Sun from DC ONE MILLION.

Ex-SUPERBOY writer Ron Marz had pitched an idea about another
Superboy/Legion crossover, but Tom is discussing another idea with Karl
Kesel, the current SUPERBOY scribe.

Jeff noted that there's plenty of Imra appearances in the next few issues
of L*. However, he hasn't had the chance to draw Laurel for a while.

Tom said the sci-fi feel of the Legion books will soon be more prominent.

Jeff hasn't designed any new costumes, just some new off-duty casuals for
the Legionnaires.

Tom is coloring some Resurrection Man material for December's DCU HEROES
SECRET FILES. He doesn't know of any Legion items in that book. But there
will be a L* SECRET FILES #1, with just one pinup each for Jeff Moy
(drawing Kid Quantum II) and Scot Kolins. Jeff didn't know if his brother
Phil would get a pinup assignment. Maybe Inferno (whose fate Tom and
asst. editor Frank Berrios have recently discussed) will show up in this
book, as well as an entry for Legion supporting cast.

Tom asked Jeff if he drew his parents into L* #67. Jeff said no, that the
man was Asian, while the woman was supposed to be African-American. But
Tom was sure the woman was Jeff's mother, and colored them both as Asian.

In L* #66, written by KC Carlson and pencilled by Mike Collins, Violet and
Chuck go out on a date. That takes up about a third of the issue, with the
rest focussing on Lyle. Then, the team splits into two sub-groups in LSH
#110.

It won't be long before Dirk Morgna returns to the pages of L*.

Jeff will the design a new male villain for L* #70, for which he had just
received the script. Of course, he wishes the villain were a woman. :)
He'll probably design the other new villains for #71, which kicks off a
two- or three-parter.

The Legion of Super-Pets won't appear before L* #75. Tom implied that
Sensor would be needed for that story. So far, the story hasn't been
approved, but Jeff is looking forward to it, and thinks the fans will like
what the creators have planned.

No other whales of any kind?!? Let's just hope that the creative team
in painting themselves into a corner here. I'm not sure how _they_
were planning to wrap up all these various plot-danglers, but it's clearly
_very_ different from what I had in mind!

Heh. Heh heh.

Good. I always liked the more hard sci-fi-ish aspects of v.4. Withoutthis, the Legion might as well simply take place in another universe
rather than the future.

> It won't be long before Dirk Morgna returns to the pages of L*.

Dirk was always one of my least favorite Legionairres pre-boot, butthat was kind of the point. The Legion needs a Sun Boy.

I'm not going to touch this one.

Any particular reason why? Not that I'm clamoring for her or
anything, but if she's not being used...

Does it involve a crossover? Or even just having Superboy appear in
LSH?

>It won't be long before Dirk Morgna returns to the pages of L*.

Hopefully with super-powers. There's no reason not to use him if
Inferno's stuck not-being-used in the 20th century.

Hmm...after passing by a mystical comet, Jeka finds herself split in
two! One, Sensor the snake, founds the brand-new Legion of
Super-Pets! The other, a teenage girl named Projectra, takes her
place in the Legion of Super-Heroes! :)

Somebody should have told Kitson that before _Legends_...

Jeff draws a scrumptious KQ II--although I must admit that Moder does
her very well too.

Okay, Jeff, your assignment is to satisfy all the (straight) female and
gay (male) readers by giving this guy just as revealing a costume as you
would a female villain... :)

It would be a prestige project or mini-series. More details is the Marz
interview in the news section of http://fly.to/superboy

One entry for the entire supporting cast? I think they should each get their
own entry **especially Chuck :)**

Jason did the best and most trademark KQII scowls though. >:-{ Always got
her just so. :-)

Yeesh, :-p meat-cake-lad, give it a rest! There are the *other* fans out
here, too, you know. Those ones who *aren't* like Cos, and Live Wire, and
Brainy, but *are* like the Triad, Imra, and Spark? Seeing a trend? >;-)

Ben, you are bloody hilarious. Didja see my last post on the Vi thread where I
talked about Ferro or Magno making better choices for the Em-Eye this time
around? Just *imagine* what they'd be *wearing*. And Ferro able to sew!!! :-D

Lousy DC1M!

But what will the LSH do when the probe from Star Trek IV visits?

I didn't see much in the DC1M comics that was any more futuristic than anything
we see in LSH. It's hard to imagine anything that advanced.

Yes to Kesel, and no to Marz.

Well, he should make time for her.

Good news indeed. That's what made me a fan in the first place.

You didn't get SciPol? That's it. You're off the newsgroup.

Translation of translation: anything that reminds folks that Superman didn't
use to be the only survivor of Krypton scare the bejeezus out of TBTB and
is therefore illegal.

I think they were talking about Wildfire, or the conglomeration of the
species, giving us the Mon-Elves (groan).
