Tom McCraw (LSH/L* co-plotter/colorist), Jeff Moy (L* penciller), and Ron
Boyd (LSH inker) were the guests on America Online's Legion of Super-Heroes
Chat for Tuesday, June 30, 1998. Legion of Super-Heroes Chat takes place
every Tuesday in the DC Comics Online area of AOL at 6:00 PM EST.
Legionnaires Chat is held every Thursday in the same area at 10:00 PM EST.
(Keyword: CHAT DC.) Regular guests include Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy, Jason
Armstrong, Ron Boyd and Mike McAvennie.

Thanks to T. Troy McNemar who originated the Legion Chat Reports; so much
of the format of these writeups was derived from his hard work.

DISCLAIMER: I can't guarantee the reliability of this report. Essentially,
the Legion chats involve about twenty-five fans shouting repeated questions
to the creators. The creators are sometimes unable to answer questions
thoroughly or clarify their responses. As a result, misinterpretations may
occur on my part.

SPOILERS: Information that spoils current or upcoming issues is found
toward the end of this report. There's no spoiler space to separate such
info from the more general comments.

:=========================:

Tom, Jeff, and Ron are attending Wizard World (the Chicago comic con) in a
few weeks. If you bring Ron a foreign language edition of a Legion book,
he'll give you a "special prize."

Tom said some of Jeff's ideas have been incorporated into next year's
plans. Jeff didn't know which ideas Tom was talking about.

There are no plans yet for Supergirl to visit the 30th Century.

A Legion story had been scheduled for ADVENTURES IN THE DCU #21 before that
title was cancelled, but Ron doubts that the material will be published.

Brainy is only 16-17 years old now, but Tom assured us that Brainy would
probably outlive the other Legionnaires.

The creators have given James Robinson some guidelines to use when the
Legion's Star Boy crosses over into Robinson's STARMAN.

New villains are promised for next year. Members of the Legion of
Super-Villains are also being discussed, but they won't appear for a while.

"In some way," the Ringers would be used in future Legion issues, according
to Tom.

Tom didn't say whether Brainy would revert to his former personality, but
it would "depend on what happens at the end of the Dark Circle storyline."

Jeff didn't know whether it was Keith Giffen or Sean Phillips who designed
the characters that will appear in the Legion books' DC ONE MILLION
tie-ins. Both books feature the same characters, and Jeff thinks they look
"snazzy." The time period is set even further into the future, than are
most of the DCU books' views of the 853rd Century. Tom told us to expect
some surprises.

Tom said that soon, we might see "a couple" of the following: Blok,
Dawnstar, Timber Wolf, Wildfire.

Way to communicate guys!

Well, it would be nice, just for nostalgia's sake if nothing else.

That stands to reason.... it's pretty much always been established that
Brainy would outlive all the other Legionnaires except maybe Blok.

yea as if the Legion's timeline isn't convoluted enough! LOL

what? we aren't going to have 24 issues of the Legion fighting the time
trapper again? Rats!!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't mind B5.1's new
personality.

Keith could always design them, he just couldn't draw them worth a hoot.
(At least not after the Evil Giffen entity possessed him)

I think I can make a pretty good guess at who they may be......
hehehehe!!

Blok Lives.... I base this on two things.

One: during the scene in which Blok supposedly dies, he had a vision
telling him that he needed to shed is outer body to move to the next
stage of his life.

Two: under his listing in "Who's Who in the LSH", it states, and I
quote,
"While he still grieves for Dryad, he knows his people will regrow their
bodies when their remains reach a world capable of sustaining their
silicon-based life."

"Yet"? Does that imply that they plan to use her, but haven't figured
out how or when? "Yes" implies "will happen sometime".

Even Andromeda and M'onel? What about Wildfire?

What, like don't say Thom knocked up some chick while he was in the
20th century?

This is a step up from no LSV. Or was it that there would be an LSV
but they wouldn't be called the LSV.

>Tom didn't say whether Brainy would revert to his former personality, but

It seems to me that the Anamoly was a waste of a story if it doesn't
have =some= lasting change. Mind you, I'm not advocating Brainy stay
as he is now, but neither should he revert to what he was.

My guesses: Timber Wolf and Wildfire, both of whom we know exist/will
exist.

True, but over the last two months Tom and Jeff, on two different
occasions made some interesting comments to me in the AOL chats......

1) Jeff and I were discussing Dawnstar. He seemed very intrigued by my
mention of her late V4 native american costume. I sent him a scan of it,
but he mentioned that he needed some more references besides just that
one scan.

2) I mentioned in the chat to someone (i forget who) that he should
check out my Blok page. Tom instantly asked me for the link to the page.
The following week, he brought it up to me again. He mentioned that he
had tried to see the page and had trouble, but that he was going to try
again. He wondered if the page was down.

It very likely means nothing, and these are the 2 preboot members I
would like to see appear the most, so I could be prejudiced. =)

Still.... interesting, no?

That's good; I'm hoping to go myself (I still need to do some investigation
into accomodations, food, etc.). The LSH dinner is, unfortunately, out of
the question for me. Did Tom, Jeff, and Ron mention any other LSH creators
who'll be at the con?

> Tom said some of Jeff's ideas have been incorporated into next year's

Because Tom hasn't told Jeff which ideas to have yet. Or Jeff hasn't told
Tom yet. Your choice. :)

> There are no plans yet for Supergirl to visit the 30th Century.

Note the inclusion of "yet." Speaking of which, I'd like to see PAD write
a Legion story, myself, for the hell of it.

Koko, however, will be throttled when Brainy is "restored." :)

Good.

Not that I'd mind any of these appearing, myself....

Sorry to hear that.

Jeff's brother, Phil Moy, will be there and so will Cory Carani. I've
heard second hand that Mike McAvennie will not be attending the con.
