Tom McCraw (LSH/L* co-plotter/colorist) and Jeff Moy (L* penciller) were
the guests on America Online's Legionnaires Chat for Thursday, February 5,
1998. Legion of Super-Heroes Chat takes place every Tuesday in the DC
Comics Online area of AOL at 6:00 PM EST. Legionnaires Chat is held every
Thursday in the same area at 10:00 PM EST. (Keyword: CHAT DC.) Regular
guests include Tom McCraw, Tom Peyer, Jeff Moy, Jason Armstrong, Ron Boyd
and Mike McAvennie.

Thanks to T. Troy McNemar who originated the Legion Chat Reports; so much
of the format of these writeups was derived from his hard work.

DISCLAIMER: I can't guarantee the reliability of this report. Essentially,
the Legion chats involve about thirty-five fans shouting repeated questions
to the creators. The creators are sometimes unable to answer questions
thoroughly or clarify their responses. As a result, misinterpretations may
occur on my part.

SPOILERS: Information that spoils current or upcoming issues is found
toward the end of this report. There's no spoiler space to separate such
info from the more general comments.

SUBSCRIPTIONS: To subscribe to these chat reports, send an e-mail to
"majo...@mlists.com" with the message "subscribe lsh-chats". To
unsubscribe, send the message "unsubscribe lsh-chats" to the same address.

PLUGS: To subscribe to Lev Kalman's humorous LSH pics, send an e-mail to
"majo...@mlists.com" with the message "subscribe lev-pics". You'll get a
new cartoon e-mailed to you about once every two weeks.

Phil Moy (Inke...@aol.com) was uncredited for his inks in next week's L*
#59, pgs 6-10.

Jeff heard that former LSH penciller Lee Moder might have some work in the
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER comic.

The Legion books' sales do not warrant their receiving annuals this year.

Jeff hasn't redesigned any costumes recently.

Jeff prefers a wavy look to Tinya's hair, instead of its currently very
straight look.

There are no plans for a Triad miniseries.

The Demon won't appear in the Legion books.

Tom implied that Captain Frake from LSH v2 #274-275 would not be the third
of Tinya's bodies.

Jeff wasn't sure if Kinetix has a crush on anyone. Rokk won't be in a
relationship for a while.

Nura's narcoleptic fainting spells tend to be more serious, the more she
sees in her visions.

Jan's recent "new perspective" is a direct result from his change by
Mordru; it doesn't have to do with the destruction of Trom. He could
become lithium if he thought of it.

Tinya was briefly on leave after LSH #102, and returned to action soon
enough for L* #58 (released one week earlier).

The fires of creation have nothing to do with the birth of the Time Trapper.

Tinya and Luornu do not have the same father.

Andromeda will show up in the Dark Circle story.

Tom wouldn't say if the upcoming timeslip story will have lasting effects
on Legion continuity. The creators have been wanting to do this story for
a while. The first clues were planted with the first Legionnaire to enter
the timestream-- Brainy, when he time travelled to Guy Gardner's Warriors.

Jan does something interesting in L* #59, the dating issue.

Kid Quantum will receive a few changes to her costume: she'll add her
brother's star insigna, and receive a flight ring and belt. She won't add
a skirt to her ensemble. Her internal powers are stronger than her late
brother's were.

Karate Kid's modified costume is based on the one he wore in KINGDOM COME,
designed by Alex Ross.

The Legion's Star Boy will appear in STARMAN.

This is a step up? :) (Sales-wise, probably.) I wish him luck.

Agreed, especially since Jeff draws big hair so well.

So, like, what's happening with that long-promised Jan spotlight?

One more fan theory laid to rest.

Well, if that isn't confirmation of the new members' IDs, I don't know
what is. :) I also can't think of any new members I'd rather see just
now. But I'd rather see KQII keep her own stylized "Q" emblem, even if
it is hard to draw.

[sigh] Another crossover.

Everyone take out their magic marker and write him in.

>Jeff heard that former LSH penciller Lee Moder might have some work in the
>BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER comic.

That's okay, those kids are kinda skinny anyway.

>The Legion books' sales do not warrant their receiving annuals this year.

If we ask real nice, can we get some Legion stories in some of the
non-Legion 80 page giant annuals?

>Jeff hasn't redesigned any costumes recently.

Zoe is feeling neglected.

>Jeff prefers a wavy look to Tinya's hair, instead of its currently very
>straight look.

You tell 'em, Jeff.

>There are no plans for a Triad miniseries.

There is no justice. There is no justice. There is no justice.

>The Demon won't appear in the Legion books.

But Klarion joins in LSH #666.

>Tom implied that Captain Frake from LSH v2 #274-275 would not be the third
>of Tinya's bodies.

Tinya would look good in an eyepatch.

>Jeff wasn't sure if Kinetix has a crush on anyone.

Kinetix strikes me as a "date a holo-star" type.

>Rokk won't be in a relationship for a while.

Let's see. Last girlfriend animated him like a puppet. I'd be gun shy.

>Nura's narcoleptic fainting spells tend to be more serious, the more she
>sees in her visions.

That's why she never wins the lottery. Every time she sees the correct
numbers, she falls into a coma until it's over.

>Jan's recent "new perspective" is a direct result from his change by

>Mordru; it doesn't have to do with the destruction of Trom. He could

If Jan is going to become a pharmaceutical, he ought to consider an
anti-psychotic.

>Tinya was briefly on leave after LSH #102, and returned to action soon
>enough for L* #58 (released one week earlier).

If Tinya's gong to be travelling backwards through the series, I hope
she'll tip them off about Chu.

>The fires of creation have nothing to do with the birth of the Time Trapper.

But they do share an astrological sign.

>Andromeda will show up in the Dark Circle story.

Does she have a reservation?

>Tom wouldn't say if the upcoming timeslip story will have lasting effects
>on Legion continuity.

"Imra, what have you done with your costume?"

>The creators have been wanting to do this story for a while.

. . . because the stories that they've been doing have been nowhere near
controversial enough.

>The first clues were planted with the first Legionnaire to enter
>the timestream-- Brainy, when he time travelled to Guy Gardner's Warriors.

That's what happens when a minor consumes alcohol--the entire timestream
rips apart and the Time Trapper shows up to redecorate your home.

>Jan does something interesting in L* #59, the dating issue.

Speaks coherently?

>Kid Quantum will receive a few changes to her costume: she'll add her
>brother's star insigna, and receive a flight ring and belt. She won't add
>a skirt to her ensemble.

She should add a 70's disco collar.

>Her internal powers are stronger than her late brother's were.

One can only imagine the chaos around the Cullen household when the Kids
were toddlers.

>Karate Kid's modified costume is based on the one he wore in KINGDOM COME,
>designed by Alex Ross.

It must be weird to need a microscope to design a costume.

>The Legion's Star Boy will appear in STARMAN.

Good lord! Keep him away from the Mist!

Troy, I have to say that I have enjoyed tremendously your witty reparte in
regards to the AOL chats. It has indeed become a sort of calling in your
retirement. I echo an earlier post on the same subject. Thank you!

Thank you, but I certainly did not start this trend. Among others, Leif
Olson used to crack me up with humorous responses to the chat reports.

And part of the fun of writing up the chat reports for me was seeing
people's responses--whether serious or facetious. My responses are, at
least in part, my way of thanking Alex for taking on this often thankless
task.

As Witch-Boy? Hey, it's in keeping with codename etiquette.

I've known a lot of guys in relationships like that. :)

No, dates a hunk of inertron because they have so much in common.

As should the rest of the team.

The above are the opinions of Randy Lander. Had they been
the biblical truth, your bushes would be on fire.

I don't know. That kinda looks like Sneckie talking while she's falling.

I wonder which one will notice that the other isn't sentient first?
