[RACCies/LNH/LNH20/LNHX/LNHY/NTB] Looniverse RACCies Eligibles for 2011

Anal-Retentive Archive Kid walks up to the podium. He glances
at the imprint header in the subject line and mutters to himself, "I
swear, that alphabet soup gets longer every year..." Then he places
his notes on the podium before addressing the audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen. It is now the start of 2012, and it is
therefore time for the regularly scheduled nomination period of the
annual RACCies awards. The nominations ballot has already been posted,
and the annual Self-Promotional Binge has begun. Please form an
orderly queue to cast your carefully considered ballots in the email
address provided.
"Additionally, here is the regular community service that lists
those stories posted in 2011 under various imprints relevant to the
Looniverse. This year we welcome two more LNH imprints: the LNHX Origins,
and the rebooted LNH20 setting created for the twentieth anniversary in
2012. Yes, we really have been fighting evil with parody and mangled
superhero tropes for coming up on two decades.
"As ever, this service is intended to act as a memory jogger only,
and no assessment on the grounds of quality is implied. A more
complete listing of the fiction posted on rec.arts.comics.creative
can be found in the monthly accumulations of the _End of Month
Reviews_ or the RACC archives at:
http://lists.eyrie.org/pipermail/racc/
"Back issues of these comics may be found at either Google's usenet
archive at:
http://groups.google.com/
or at the Eyrie archives in these appropriate subdirectories of:
http://archives.eyrie.org/racc/ or
http://lists.eyrie.org/pipermail/racc/

"There will always be an LNH. Period. Even if all the current writers
disappear in a poof of light, some wandering group of weirdos will come
and look over the remnants of RACC, see what the LNH was, and rebuild
it all over again. In the comic book world, the LNH is a state of mind
that has been given a name: Comic book parody."

Mate, you've managed more stories than me, and that's before I get to the
inevitable nitpcik that the list you're quoting is limited to LNH posts
and leaves out the LNHY and LNH20 stuff.

Would be perfectly happy with a posting rate approaching a story per month...

Same here! Even a story every two months would be better than I've
usually managed...

Also, comparing this to last year's list, it's amazing how much the
number of active authors went up even before LNH20.

Yeah. I figured Andrew wasn't critiquing his own prolificacy, he was
just saying he sucks for some reason not obvious to us. 8{D>

Yes. The LNH20 launch is a success on that criteria at least.
However, I would caution against automatically assuming that is a
long term indicator. I've noticed a similar statistical aretefact in the
past - for several years running Dvandom put of a single LNH story
that similarly raised the stats on the number of writers.

The LNH imprints all share a powerful storytelling flexibility because
of their anarachic, parody nature. It allows people to dip in briefly
and post stories as inspiration takes them. But ultimately I try to
keep in mind that different writers have diferent preferences for
what imprints they primarily work for. Resting on laurels would
probably be a bad idea.

Weirdly, this didn't show up on my regular newsfeed.

Yeah, but I didn't advance any of my many (MANY) ongoing plots more
than two issues' worth! ^^;

Andrew "NO .SIG MAN" "Juan" Perron, more than that, actually.

It's true! I've been pulling people in as much as I can.

Indeed. And one of the things we have to do to keep this up is keep LNH20
easy to get into, both knowledge-wise and continuity-wise.

Andrew "NO .SIG MAN" "Juan" Perron, easy peasy

And we need to keep arguments down to a minimum and not get upset over
things. People need to believe that they can contribute and not have
to worry about causing problems.

Right?
