Not that you really need to know this, but this strip is referencing the last
Despert-radoes strip (which has Bill Clinton thinking about nuking Arizona):

I just noticed, this cartoon had a pop-up tag: "Your Place for
Desk-Sitting Action!" Oooh, now I'll have to look for embedded tags
every other day for the rest of my life!

And this was like three strips full of plot development. Oooh!

Yeah, they all have those pop-up tags. Although most of them aren't

good in this strip.

Huh, I didn't think of it that way at all. This is a very different
dynamic, despite the similarity of "lady seduces well-meaning dude by
playing to his good guy side".

Andrew "NO .SIG MAN" "Juan" Perron, for one thing, Max isn't a hero.

Was reading this on google groups and because of the way that the lines

never heard of called "torelish", but after doing a google search for
the word I realized it was actually "to relish". :)

And yes Ripping Dancer and Fearless Leader are both much better human

As I've mentioned, I got more of a Wyatt Ferguson vibe. Wyatt is
typically not a hero; he's more a survivor of weirdness, not a fighter
against it.

And they're heroes. But in Tanza and Max's defense, there's not yet any

...Tanza and Max are non-superhero characters in a non-superhero universe
(mostly, so far). It makes sense that they wouldn't be quite as upright,
especially as Tanza's genre is more noir, which is all about flawed
characters.

Well, it's *sort of* a superhero universe, and mostly that's because I
stuffed the Powernaut into it. And he is a lot more of a misfit there
than Wyatt is. Most of its other well-meaning superhumans work "de
facto" for governments, though they're historically willing to set up
their own offshore tax havens. Leo the Pirate Vampire King is actually
the last in a long tradition of this.

(All comments apply to the Superhuman World series prior to the end of
Powernaut 2011. Once I get around to writing 2012 stories, superheroes
and non-superheroes will mingle much less frequently.)

Tanza and Max would fit pretty well in my own storylines, as long as I

One thing I've noticed about writing comic strips is how it's a lot
easier to go into deep characterization mode in prose than in a comic.
You can just write and write away in prose. But in comics the more
words you write, the more panels you'll need to have.

If this strip had been prose I would have probably added a whole bunch
more thoughts. But doing it as a comic, I try to keep the word count as
small as I possibly can.

I can actually give people an example of one story I've told both ways:
The Forgotten Vigilante
(http://www.eilertech.com/stories/2009/journal.htm#vigilante) and
Powernaut 2009, Forgotten Heroes
(http://www.eilertech.com/stories/powernaut/2009.htm). The prose
version was for the very first High Concept Challenge, and it was my
very first RACC story. Still, I've come to prefer the Powernaut's way.

You know, I reread the comic, and I think both it and the prose version are
made better by the existence of the other. The comic version kinda elides
details, whereas the prose version is basically nothing but a recitation of
details.

Isn't napalm a good solution for everything? It's certainly the
solution I'd expect from Mistress Grenadine.

Back to the bed... If Max doesn't have to get out of bed for all the
reasons *I* get out of bed, then he's got a bonafide superpower! And if
he gets bored there, he could always draw web comics. You know, that
little skill that brought him to Webcomiclot in the first place. That's
about the best reason *I* have for getting out of bed on Saturdays. 8{D>

Hm. So you're saying that Grant Morrison broke into your comic and started

Hm. But wouldn't Cassandra Nova go there, with Magneto as something more
