(KtBlog) - Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHayes "Left Behind"
series of sixteen novels (Amazon.com:
http://xrl.us/LeftBehind ) represents everything that is
most deranged about religion. If I had to choose companions
to take my chances with in a lifeboat, and the choice
boiled down to picking Tim LaHaye, Jerry Jenkins, or
Christopher Hitchens (Wikipedia: http://xrl.us/Hitchens ),
Id pick Hitchens in a heartbeat. At least he wouldnt try
to sink our boat so that Jesus would come back sooner. He
might even bring along a case of wine.

The "Left Behind" novels have sold tens of millions of
copies while spawning an End Times cult, or rather egging
it on. Such products as Left Behind wall paper, screen

Well, if there's one thing that's hard to put out
one's mind, it's an exposed left behind.

So we have these characters who
walk around with big arrows reminiscent
of Chester Gould's Dick Tracy comic
strips (with an arrow pointing to Tracy's
wrist radio) pointing to their big shiny
left behinds.

How about Right Behinds? Is this another
sect? Can a Left Behind and a Right
Behind co-exist? Sleep together?
Get married in Louisiana?

Dungarees with ragged Left Behind cutouts
ought to be a big fashion item. I bet they'd
sell in Fort Worth. It could become a whole
new product line at The Gap.
